Lately I've been playing again in Photoshop, which I must admit is a great fun!

It is amazing what you can do in just a few easy steps and with a couple of textures.

Here is the original version of my picture, the one I started from:

DSCF0021dupli.jpg

And the very same picture plus one texture:

fields+of+gold-blue.jpg

And plus two textures:

fields+of+gold-edi.jpg

What do you think? Tell me which one do you like the best?

Did you know that grown up people quote Winnie the Pooh? And they even have tattoos made with such quotes. So here is a quote from Winnie, since I've always loved him. Or should I say "her"? As we know that the real Winnie, the one that inspired A.A. Milne to write the story, was in fact a "she".

"The things that make me different are the things that make me."

paint.jpg
This was made in Photoshop - used a filter on one of my photos, some brushes, two textures for background, a polaroid frame, some adjustments and text. If you want to know the recipe, just ask!

see ya!

This is what I posted on my Facebook not so long ago and I think it should go here, too.
"The pervert is back" as Larry Flynt once said! [i love that movie, by the way.]
Here is my new bead.
And bad news - there will be no hearts and flowers anymore. They simply are not my stile. So this is just to let you know that the pervert is back:
pervert.jpg

I'll make this into a necklace soon.
But until then let me show you another bead that I like a lot. I only have to string it on a leather cord!
This picture depicts the raw bead. I stained it with dark brown acrylic paint and now looks just fabulous! Just like the real thing!!!
birdy.jpg
I'll take some pictures soon.
Because I also have some new, hot from the oven beads. They are more normal, not so "extreme" like these ones. But nevertheless, no hearts and flowers and things like that!
So see you soon!

The Other Me...

Well, here is the other me... a little bit deviant...

We went for a hike last week and... well... I found a cow!

It was not a living one, just the... you know... bones.

Here are two pictures of it. I used the vintage frames from The CoffeeShop Blog, go over there and you will find tons of tutorials, free stuff like frames, PS actions, storyboards and lot more.

cow+ribs+vert.jpg
 cow+teeth.jpg
Ha-ha! Do you know what these are??? The teeth! I like their shape, all those lines and curves and circles.

I took home some teeth and the two horns! I don't have a picture of the horns yet, they are out in the garden, on two poles. I would like to do something with them, don't really know what, maybe try carving or something.

Have a nice week!

See ya!

The Frozen Lakes

Yesterday we went for a walk down to the lakes. It was in the afternoon and at first everything seemed almost like black and white.

DSCF0137.jpg

And the moon up in the trees

DSCF0161.jpg

Then there were some tracks frozen on the lake, and colors came up as the sun went down.

And some geese were swimming in the icy water - just a narrow stream over the frozen lake

Well... and here comes the "golden hour"

And then flocks of wild birds flew over

I hope some of you enjoy these pics. They are not the best ever. But it is just the way I see the world around me when I look through the lens. With no filters. And no PS processing. The world AS IT IS!

Well... I don't have much of an imagination, but what I saw this morning was completely crazy!

First let me show you some spring flowers. O how I love my little garden!!! When everything comes to life after the gray winter, trees bloom, flowers open, bees buzz around.

DSCF0787.jpg

DSCF0829.jpg

DSCF0820.jpg

We had a small rain last night and my tulips were covered in tiny drops of water

DSCF0814.jpg

DSCF0827.jpg
And now the freaking snail! God, somebody had lots of time and a very relaxed mind to think of painting a snail in blue!!!

It was in our garden this morning. When I first spotted it, I couldn't imagine what that could be - a blue ball-like something in the grass. GOD!!! Poor guy...

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Author unknown...

I want to invite all of you who lost your soul-mate pet, or just once hearted a stray dog or cat, to take a moment this special day and pay a tribute to that special soul, and friend, and being. Simply remember him or her, or say a prayer if you feel so, or light a candle, shed a tear... or just close your eyes and REMEMBER.
Let this be the REMEMBRANCE day of those who can't speak with words but who had changed our lives forever.
I don't believe in fairy tales... sometimes I wish I would. Still, I think that the very idea that one day, pet and owner will be reunited, is so very pure and emotional.

Therefor, today, I will just close my eyes and look once again into her beautiful, trusting eyes, and for one minute I will believe in angels.

QR Code

I made a QR Code a couple of days ago!!!

WOOOW, I feel so good when I make something new. And especially when I can keep up with new technologies!

There are lots of  QR code generator sites. I read a little bit about this on the net, and I decided I don't want only text, or only URL. So, I opened an account on SKANZ, where one can make a kind of "site" and choose what information the QR Code should contain, which is URL, text, contact, photo, all in one.

And guess what?!?!? You don't even need an iPhone to scan/read a QR code! I have a Sony Xperia and it reads it! Of course, I had to download an app.

GO AHEAD, make yourself a QR Code if you have something to share! It's easy peasy!!!

OK, now take a look!

This is MY qr code! I'm happy as a child!

So this is the question. Should I process pictures or should I not? And more, to what extent?

I like pictures as they are when originally taken.

Nevertheless, I also like some processing. It is great fun.

But this also takes time. And learning!!! But there are some extremely simple actions that can be applied, which, I might say, radically change the look of the original photo. One great advantage is you don't need a very good photo. Not even a good one!

Here are just a few processed pics that I took last year in the Bazaar of Sarajevo.

And in this one you can clearly see my reflection in the shop window

Hi there!

I just popped in to post a picture, one of my favorites.

The original photo is not so spectacular, but I just love the result I obtained in Photoshop.

I like the texture and I love the hint of blue on the right.

flower+watercolor+and+emboss2+b.jpg

Come closer, I'm gonna tell ya a secret: I'm not sure I could do this again!

I definitely have to name my layers when I work in Photoshop.

Photoshop and My Logo

me saw something on the net and me wanted too :D

Sometimes I'm just like a little monkey, copying everything I see.

Well... in fact it is not simply copying, but also learning, processing and making it my own.

So here is my latest "doing" in PS, a "something" I am crazy about for the last few days:

second.jpg

Isn't this just beautiful?!?!? Open a photo in PS and then pick different colors with the eyedropper from that certain photo and wonder at the surprising palette of colors you get. I simply love this!!!

And now for the second part of this post... I've been working for some time on a logo... Here it is, what I've managed to "create"so far

:( can't load it... don't know why... there should be an explanation, but I just don't know...

Orange Chocolate Cake

Instead of beads, I'm back with something sweet I made for Women's Day.

I made the dough for my chocolate cake and baked a cake and some cupcakes from it, too.

Then I made an orange cream and here is the finished orange chocolate cake, decorated of course with orange slices:

tort+porto1.jpg
And here is a section just for you!

tort+porto2.jpg
I My Sweet God, it was heavenly!!! I love cookies and cakes and sweets!

And I love chocolate!

The cream was so... creamy, with orange juice and zest and pieces of orange and heavy cream in it. And the cake... well... it was made with cocoa and chocolate. Yummy!!!!!!!!!!!!

And of course, I made a lot of cream, too much cream. And didn't know what to do with it. So I took some savoiardi, soaked them in coffee and lined them up in a bowl, then covered them in orange cream, took some cupcakes, sliced them up and put them on top of the cream and then decorated with whipped cream and orange slices. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm, this was sooooo good, too!

tort+porto3.jpg

I don't know about you, but me... I stuff myself at week-ends, and then try to loose that weight during the week. Just to start over again on Fridays!!!

I hope you enjoyed my cakes. I will gladly send you the recipe, should you like to give it a try!

xo see ya!

OOB - Out Of Bounds

Have I told you that I'm like a child? I want everything I see!

The last interesting thing I saw was OOB, that is out of bounds photos made in Photoshop. And of course I had to give this a try, too.

So here it is, my first... well, actually second try on this PS effect:

[my first was a real success, too. but it was a kind of family photo, and as you might have noticed, I don't make a habit of posting faces/portraits/people.]

leaf+frog+OOB2.jpg
I love this little fellow! Took this picture last year. Some two years ago we had many little leaf frogs in our garden. Then, I don't know what happened and the following year I only saw 2 or 3... So sad... I miss them.

November Sky

I've changed my old computer for a laptop and been working for days now to transfer all my files and install the programs I am used to... not quite succeeded, unfortunately.

But the good news is that I can download my photos from my camera and resize them. Here are only a few which I took last week - from my backyard:

DSCF9440R.jpg
I forgot to mention... I have a new photo editing program - not as good as my old one - but it has some interesting features as you can see!

New Colors

Hi there! As I promised I'm back with new pics.

These are my newest beads, a series I've made with new colors.

I like how they turned out!

For the time being, here are only the beads, they are waiting to be turned into something... they don't know into what, and neither do I quite exactly.

My Friends from Kacs

The neighbors next to us in Kacs have a black cat and 2 adorable kittens. They play a lot, and sleep a lot, and eat. In the beginning they were afraid, but last time we were there they just came in and enjoyed the company! I fed them, of course, and after a while we became so very close friends that I ended up with both of them taking a nap in my lap.

These are the pics from the time I could hardly put a finger on either of them:

I've recently discovered eco painting on different cloth and also on paper and I am totally amazed by this process!

Well, as you can imagine, I had to try this our. Although - again!!! - my "tools" were scarce.

But first let me show you the end result:

DSCF1108.JPG
I am quite pleased with it. My cloth was the back pocket from a pair of trousers.  I guess that it have looked better if I had a white piece of cloth.

Second, I didn't have any leaves so I used onion skins, red cabbage and some small fir branches.  You can see the fir in this close-up. O, and I love that alien face right in the middle!!!

DSCF1130.JPG
And because I love rust, I also added some wire, two small coins and copper wire. I thought the copper wire would make some beautiful bluish impression, but it didn't... and nor did the coins.

Anyhow, I had some beautiful rust made by the wire - it was a clasp I made some time ago for a necklace - and by the wire I used to tie around the cloth.

DSCF1129.JPG
DSCF1122.JPG
All in all it came out quite well... in my opinion. Now I'm thinking of using it to make the front cover of a journal.

I'll keep you updated!

My Feathered Friends

We had some very cold days but today was a little bit nicer. And guess what? My dear feathered friends are here!

I've been trying all day long to take some pictures #-o From indoors, as you may imagine! Which is almost as hard as from outside, except that it's not so cold!!! :)) I don't have quite an unobstructed access to my window, which makes balance a little difficult. And of course, I have to pull aside the curtains a little bit, which sometimes scares the birds away.

So here are some pictures. Just watch this look!!!

Meet IGOR!

You saw it before, but let me show you now the REAL Igor! The finished Igor.

DSCF1271.jpg

I just love it!

It looks so real. I observed people's reaction when they firs saw it: everybody thought it was a real bird skull!

O how pleased I am! I started making this bead and was not satisfied with its outcome, and started all over again several times. Though, there are two mistakes. The first is a production mistake, or say a design one - the beak is a bit too long... And the second, I glued on the eye pin and forgot to give it a patina before. I don't like that shiny wire too much, but the good thing is that in time it will fade.

It's all handmade, of course: the bead, eye pin, bail, and clasp. And it hangs on a genuine leather cord. Black!

 - Tata-mosule, da' cocorii un' se duc când se duc?
- În tara cocorilor.
- În tara cocorilor?
- Da.

A very dear friend of mine commented on my latest FB post citing a Romanian novelist.
Some long forgotten lines... but nevertheless so beautiful and heart touching.
I googled myself, only to rediscover them once again, and felt like I need to share them with those dear friends of mine who I know are constantly reading my blog, and of course with every body else [who can read Romanian].

Here we go - "The Grandfather" by Barbu Stefanescu Delavrancea

- S-a mea, s-a ei!
- S-a mea, s-a lui!
La obraji cearta se aprinse mai tare.
- Partea mea e mai frumoasa.
- Ba a mea, ca e mai alba!
Bunicul zâmbi.
- Ba a mea, ca e mai calda!
- Ba a mea, ca e mai dulce!
- Ba a mea, ca nu e ca a ta!
- Ba a mea, ca are un ochi mai verde!
- Ba a mea, ca are un ochi si mai verde!
Bunicul abia se tinea de râs.
- Ba a mea!
- Ba a mea!
