My Feathered Friends

We had some very cold days but today was a little bit nicer. And guess what? My dear feathered friends are here!

I've been trying all day long to take some pictures #-o From indoors, as you may imagine! Which is almost as hard as from outside, except that it's not so cold!!! :)) I don't have quite an unobstructed access to my window, which makes balance a little difficult. And of course, I have to pull aside the curtains a little bit, which sometimes scares the birds away.

So here are some pictures. Just watch this look!!!

Isn't it a sweetie?!?!?

Lately I've been playing again in Photoshop, which I must admit is a great fun!

It is amazing what you can do in just a few easy steps and with a couple of textures.

Here is the original version of my picture, the one I started from:

DSCF0021dupli.jpg

And the very same picture plus one texture:

fields+of+gold-blue.jpg

And plus two textures:

fields+of+gold-edi.jpg

What do you think? Tell me which one do you like the best?

So this is the question. Should I process pictures or should I not? And more, to what extent?

I like pictures as they are when originally taken.

Nevertheless, I also like some processing. It is great fun.

But this also takes time. And learning!!! But there are some extremely simple actions that can be applied, which, I might say, radically change the look of the original photo. One great advantage is you don't need a very good photo. Not even a good one!

Here are just a few processed pics that I took last year in the Bazaar of Sarajevo.

And in this one you can clearly see my reflection in the shop window

Aren't these interesting?!?!?

The Frozen Lakes

Yesterday we went for a walk down to the lakes. It was in the afternoon and at first everything seemed almost like black and white.

DSCF0137.jpg

DSCF0152.jpg
And the moon up in the trees

DSCF0161.jpg

Then there were some tracks frozen on the lake, and colors came up as the sun went down.

And some geese were swimming in the icy water - just a narrow stream over the frozen lake

DSCF0138.jpg

Well... and here comes the "golden hour"

DSCF0177.jpg

And then flocks of wild birds flew over

I hope some of you enjoy these pics. They are not the best ever. But it is just the way I see the world around me when I look through the lens. With no filters. And no PS processing. The world AS IT IS!

A very dear friend of mine commented on my latest FB post citing a Romanian novelist.
Some long forgotten lines... but nevertheless so beautiful and heart touching.
I googled myself, only to rediscover them once again, and felt like I need to share them with those dear friends of mine who I know are constantly reading my blog, and of course with every body else [who can read Romanian].

Here we go - "The Grandfather" by Barbu Stefanescu Delavrancea

- S-a mea, s-a ei!
- S-a mea, s-a lui!
La obraji cearta se aprinse mai tare.
- Partea mea e mai frumoasa.
- Ba a mea, ca e mai alba!
Bunicul zâmbi.
- Ba a mea, ca e mai calda!
- Ba a mea, ca e mai dulce!
- Ba a mea, ca nu e ca a ta!
- Ba a mea, ca are un ochi mai verde!
- Ba a mea, ca are un ochi si mai verde!
Bunicul abia se tinea de râs.
- Ba a mea!
- Ba a mea!

A week-end walk

Here I am again! It was about time I think :D

I have some new earrings but unfortunately no pics...

But I have some pictures from a week-end walk, back in December.

Here are some ducks swimming on the lake. They come in two colors!!!

December Sky

OK... I know I posted skies before. And unfortunately I can't get beautiful and different views from my backyard as I can only see houses and gardens all around me. But nevertheless I find the colors just breathtaking

[ooo! do you know BREATHLESS by JERRY LEE LEWIS??? I love that song. And I love JLL!]

I promise this is the last time I post skies! [this year!!! hi-hi-hi]

I've been told that all my photos look alike. But I can't help myself from taking pictures when I see that wonderful view over the horizon.

So here we go:

DSCF9626.jpg

I can tell you that the 3rd picture is just amazing when in full original size! I put it as my wallpaper on my computer. If you want it too, just say so and I will send it to you in high resolution.

Photoshop and My Logo

me saw something on the net and me wanted too :D

Sometimes I'm just like a little monkey, copying everything I see.

Well... in fact it is not simply copying, but also learning, processing and making it my own.

So here is my latest "doing" in PS, a "something" I am crazy about for the last few days:

second.jpg

Isn't this just beautiful?!?!? Open a photo in PS and then pick different colors with the eyedropper from that certain photo and wonder at the surprising palette of colors you get. I simply love this!!!

And now for the second part of this post... I've been working for some time on a logo... Here it is, what I've managed to "create"so far

:( can't load it... don't know why... there should be an explanation, but I just don't know...

Amazing sky

I was absent these days from here, first of all because I had lots of work - which I eventually finished and yesterday I was on holiday! [this is what I call a day when I don't do anything but what I like, what relaxes and interests me]

Yesterday I also managed to install on my computer the program which I am used to for editing my photos,  and I feel much better now.

So here I am, back at last with other amazingly beautiful pictures of the sky, as I promised a while ago.

And this is what I saw one afternoon when I went out in my backyard:

DSCF9488_resize.jpg
DSCF9489_resize.jpg
DSCF9491_resize.jpg
DSCF9494_resize.jpg
DSCF9496_resize.jpg

I don't want to get mentally old...  I love to learn and try out new things. And I have to constantly DO something, like jewelry, crafts, photography. But there are certain things that I am used to, and which I love, and yes, I am very reluctant about changing them for others. [like my photo editing program :D]

What about you? How do you feel about this? When you are very comfortable with something, do you want to change it for something you don't know how to use? Are you afraid of the new and the unknown? Do you happen to look at your parents, or perhaps grandparents, who can't keep up with progress [like computers, mobile phones and such], and say 'I never want to be like that!!!'?

Thanks for stopping by!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Author unknown...

I want to invite all of you who lost your soul-mate pet, or just once hearted a stray dog or cat, to take a moment this special day and pay a tribute to that special soul, and friend, and being. Simply remember him or her, or say a prayer if you feel so, or light a candle, shed a tear... or just close your eyes and REMEMBER.
Let this be the REMEMBRANCE day of those who can't speak with words but who had changed our lives forever.
I don't believe in fairy tales... sometimes I wish I would. Still, I think that the very idea that one day, pet and owner will be reunited, is so very pure and emotional.

Therefor, today, I will just close my eyes and look once again into her beautiful, trusting eyes, and for one minute I will believe in angels.

November Sky

I've changed my old computer for a laptop and been working for days now to transfer all my files and install the programs I am used to... not quite succeeded, unfortunately.

But the good news is that I can download my photos from my camera and resize them. Here are only a few which I took last week - from my backyard:

DSCF9440R.jpg
I forgot to mention... I have a new photo editing program - not as good as my old one - but it has some interesting features as you can see!

We had again an amazing sky this afternoon, so I'll be back with more photos like these in a couple of days!

Horse Riding

Sunday afternoon I went horse riding!

O how I was excited!!!

I don't really ride... I just sit on horse back [hi-hi] so there were hundreds of thoughts running through my head: whether I would be able to mount on the horse's back, would he run or would he gallop and would I fall off... And not the least, how would I get off?!?!? all by myself?

It was a beautiful autumn day. Everything was ok, the horse was ok, I managed to mount without any help. And off we went. In the woods and over the fields. The sun was shining and the colors of the autumn leaves were just beautiful. So beautiful...

Of course, I didn't take my camera with me. But now I think I would have. Next time I will!

Anyhow, for this first try it was just enough for me to concentrate on riding and staying alive on horse back.

Although it is somewhat similar to bike riding - as you have to keep your balance, and hold on with your knees and thighs - a horse is totally different from a bike. It has its own will after all!  Especially when you don't know how to control it - like I don't.

The major problem was that my horse kept eating all the time. I was out riding for about one hour, and he stopped thousands of times to graze and eat leaves! And stupid me! what did I do? I kept telling him "Move! Come on, go!" but he wouldn't. My companion told me to hold firmly the reins but it proved to be useless. As my horse was stronger than me, as you can imagine. This is what he did: walked a bit to the right or to the left, stopped and suddenly let his head down, almost pulling me off as he leaned for the grass! And me... I was pulling on the reins and kicking him (lightly!) and of course telling him Come on! Move! MOOOOVE!!!

And here is a picture of me riding!

riding.jpg

It was a wonderful day! And a wonderful, magnificent experience! O how I would love to have o horse!

Some days ago I was invaded! Hundreds and hundreds of birds flew over out of the blue, filling the sky, the trees, the electric lines. And they were so loud!!! Not too big, but not too small... I've never seen something like this in my whole life!

DSCF8922B.jpg
DSCF8934B.jpg
First I was amazed. Just stood there in the door way and watched them, taking photos and listening to the noise they made.
They were back after a few days.
DSCF8911B.jpg
DSCF8913B.jpg
I don't know where they came from, nor where they went. But I can tell you this: I ended hating them! They ate all my grapes!!! Can you imagine? ALL - ALL - ALL my grapes!

DSCF8929B.jpg
I hope I'll never ever see them again. Anyhow, next year I'll have to make a scarecrow!
