Arai XD-5 Now In-Stock In The US

If you’re looking for a new touring helmet, you’ve got lots to choose from. With the US-market release of the Shoei Neotec 3 earlier in April, we also see the Arai XD-5 hitting the market. Like the new Neotec, we knew the XD-5 was coming soon, because we first saw it revealed in overseas markets last year. Arai introduced it to the US market in 2024 with an AIMExpo reveal, and now it’s in stores and at online retailers. Previous versions of the XD-5 quickly converted from a dirt-ready adventur

Is the Grind Hard Monster Chopper the Ultimate ADV Bike?

Spinal Tap famously had an amplifier where the volume went to 11 instead of the standard 10. If custom choppers were amplifiers, the Grind Hard Monster Chopper would go to at least eleventy-seven. It all began when Grind Hard Plumbing Co, whose previous builds include a snowmobile-powered mountain scooter, a Suzuki Hayabusa snow bike, and a Mazda RX7-powered drift trike, partnered with an unnamed celebrity for yet another wacky build. This celebrity backed out partway through the project, leavi

Can Yoga Help You Ride?

Here’s a suggestion from FortNine that is sure to spark some back-and-forth: Along with the strength workouts for your shoulders and lower body that the YouTube channel previously recommended, we now see them with a personal trainer suggesting… yoga poses for life on the road. Now, it might not sound super-macho to be yoga-stretching your way through a dual sport camping trip. But I will say that one of the most experienced riders I ever met was a firm believer in doing just this. We had a yoga

News From Ural: Demo Days, Deals … And Engine Updates?

Ural Motorcycles has been making basically the same machine for a long, long time, but in the past decade, the Russian-moved-to-Kazakhstan company (with its headquarters in the US PNW) has been modernizing its lineup with updates like EFI. Now, according to some cryptic lines in their latest PR email, it seems they’re working on upgrading their flat twin engine. The note is prefaced by an explanation that the company has been tied up with overhauling its business for the past couple of years; m

Monimoto 9 Anti-Theft GPS Launches This Month

Back in 2020, Egle reviewed a Monimoto anti-theft tracker which consisted of a wireless tracking node and a fob the rider keeps in their pocket. If the bike moves when the fob isn’t nearby, an alarm rings on your phone and real-time GPS tracking begins via a proprietary app on your phone. Egle found it was very effective, even when traveling in South America: More recently, when the Monimoto 7 came out, the tracking capability got even better, with LTE Cat-M1 wireless connectivity—and battery

It looks like the crew at Revzilla is going to stick with the Buffalo Chip as home base for the Get On! ADV Fest, as the rally is headed back there for 2024. The Sturgis campground has the adventure bike rally listed on the schedule for July this year, and it looks like the schedule is going to be similar to previous years. SW-Motech Kits Out The BMW R1300 GS

As soon as you see a new adventure bike hit the market, it’s only a matter of time until the Euro aftermarket starts releasing parts for it—and that should be no surprise, since they’re often the companies who made the factory-available farkles as well. In this case, we see SW-Motech launching its lineup of crash bars, skid plate, etc., for the BMW R1300 GS. BMW didn’t even exhibit its latest flagship GS at EICMA, so lots of people stopped by SW-Motech’s booth instead, to see the kitted-out mac

Build Your Own Multi-Tool: Roxon Flex

3If you’re always on the lookout for The Next Great Tool, perhaps you should check out the Roxon Flex. It has a roll-your-own design, allowing the buyer to customize what functions they include on the tool, and that means two big advantages. The first advantage is the most obvious—this arrangement allows the user to configure their multitool with gadgets that are beneficial to motorcyclists. Most of us have had a multitool or two over the years, and often, they come with tools that are not usef

Can You Take a Honda Goldwing Ice Fishing?

We love Matt Spears‘ motorcycle shenanigans, such as turning a Hayabusa into an ADV bike or taking a Goldwing on the Montana BDR. The Goldwing is back but in a slightly different configuration than before. This time, Matt has studded the tires with the intention of taking his Honda Goldwing ice fishing. [embedded content] After driving for hours to a frozen lake in a truck with a dead battery, it turned out the Goldwing had a flat tire. Fortunately, Matt remembered his tire pump and used that

Shoei Neotec 3 Now Available To US Customers

And now, here it is, finally available in the States. The Neotec 2 had been in Shoei’s lineup for a few years now; it was considered one of the top motorcycle helmets available. Yes, we know these are *not* adventure bike tires. However, we also know that a lot of you own motorcycles with 17-inch wheels front and rear, and you can always use a new set of rubber! KTM Brings Back The SX 150 And Updates Its Other Motocrossers

Two strokes aren’t dead yet—they’re not even pining for the fjords of Norway. KTM has brought back its SX 150 2T motocrosser, which is basically a muscled-up version of the SX 125. The marketeers are keen to tell us that this means more power across the rev range: [embedded content] Leaving the enthusiastic hyperbole behind, it is good to see that two-stroke fans still have new choices. The new 150 comes with EFI and a power valve to ensure all that torque is delivered in a smooth fashion. I

The Brixton Storr 500 Is Real, and Coming Here, Maybe

A while back, we discussed the Brixton Storr 500 concept shown at EICMA 2022 and asked whether you’d buy it if it were available in North America. If Brixton has its way, you might just get that opportunity with a bike virtually unchanged from the original concept. Brixton’s website provides no solid details about the Storr. Instead, it leans hard into the British heritage it very much does not have. Brixton is based in Austria, while the motorcycles are made in China by Gaokin. However, accord

Dakar Rally Racer Joaquim Rodrigues Is Retiring

One of the world’s most talented off-road racers is calling it quits After 35 years of high speed on two wheels, Joaquim Rodrigues is retiring. Rodrigues has been a fixture at the Dakar Rally for some time; most recently, he worked with the Hero Motorsports rally raid team, and was a big part of their road to top-20 results. This year, he had a DNF early-on (Stage 1), and in 2023, he was knocked out in Stage 4. But in 2022, he earned 14th overall, winning Stage 3; in 2021, he finished 11th over

Report: CFMOTO Is Developing A 1250 ADV

We’ve just run a quick summary of Ryan Adams’ review of the CFMOTO Ibex 450 adventure bike, and now we see photos coming out of Europe that show even bigger plans for the company. According to journos and brand fans in Europe, the Chinese manufacturer is working on a new 1250 adventure bike. Although the interested parties seem to be calling this bike the 1250MT, we’d guess that it will in reality be called the 1250 Ibex, seeing as that was the name thrown on the 450 and 800 adventure bikes alr

Colorado Lane Filtering Legalized, For Now

One more state has joined growing ranks of civilized places in North America to ride a motorcycle. In Colorado, lane filtering is now legal—for a little while, at least. Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed SB 24-079 into law on April 4, making it legal for motorcycles to travel between lanes of  traffic under certain conditions. This is not the free-for-all of California lane splitting. Most importantly, surrounding traffic must be at a complete stop before bikes can move between them, commonl
