Ducati Streetfighter Resurrected?
Could Ducati’s new V-4 be making its way into a new Streetfighter? Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali has said that their new V-4 engines will appear on multiple platforms. However, he did not elaborate on what models might be the recipients of the beastly engine.
Recently, slightly blurry spy shots emerged of a naked bike running at an unnamed Italian circuit. UK based MCN is reporting that the bike was Ducati’s new Streetfighter equipped with a V-4 engine.
MCN says that very little about the engine was changed. The outlet speculates that the cases and exhaust are the same. Further, they speculate that the engine will produce around 185 HP and 90 lb-ft of torque.
They claim that the new machine’s bodywork is very Panigale like with headlights that match the superbike’s aggressive looks. From the spy shots, it’s clear that the bike does not have a windscreen or half fairing. But it does appear to have a radiator shroud that seems to incorporate some small wings similar to those found on the MV Agusta Brutale 1000 Serie Oro.
MCN says the pictures show that the bike’s subframe sports a passenger seat and pegs. It bike also retains the Panigale’s single-sided swingarm and perhaps the same electronics package.
Lastly, MCN speculates that the new machine will be available in different spec levels and cost between £15,000 (~$19,000) and £17,500 (~$22,230) and will premier at EICMA show in November with a release date of Spring, 2020.
