Ducati Recall Certain Panigale V4 Motorcycles
Ducati has recalled certain Panigale V4, Panigale V4S, Panigale Speciale, and Panigale R model motorcycles. The manufacturer says that excessive fuel pressure is the culprit. Pressure may become so excessive that fuel may spray out when the fuel cap is opened.
A total of 1,880 potential units are affected. The recall extends to the following motorcycles:
MAKE | MODEL | MODEL YEAR(S) |
DUCATI | PANIGALE R | 2017 – 2019 |
DUCATI | PANIGALE SPECIALE | 2017 – 2019 |
DUCATI | PANIGALE V4 | 2017 – 2019 |
DUCATI | PANIGALE V4 S | 2017 – 2019 |
The recall is expected to commence by July 13, 2019.
Ducati will notify affected owners. Under the recall, dealers will update the fuel cap venting system, provide an updated page for the owner’s manual and affix a warning label decal to the fuel tank. Dealers will provide all repairs free of charge.
Owners of affected motorcycles may contact Ducati customer service at 888-327-4236 and reference recall SRV-RCL-19-001. Note that this recall also includes motorcycles that may have been previously remedied under recall 18V-238 for a similar issue.
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 and reference NHTSA recall 19V382000 or go to NHTSA’s website at www.safercar.gov.
