If you are a fan of flat track racing, get ready for the AMA Flat Track Grand Championship.  The country’s best amateur flat track racers will converge in Central Ohio for the start of the 2019 AMA Flat Track Grand National Championship.  The Championship will take place from July 22 – 26.

Competitors at the event will ride traditional flat track motorcycles as well as DTX motorcycles.  The DTX machines begin as stock motocross bikes which have been fitted with flat track tires, suspension, and other modifications.

The Championship starts on July 22nd on the half-mile track at Ashland County Fairgrounds in Ashland, OH.  Racing will then move to the Triangle Motorcycle Club in Harpster, Ohio on July 24 – 26th.  Racing there will include short track, half-mile, and TT competitions.

According to AMA Track Racing Manager Ken Saillant:

“The AMA Flat Track Grand Championship is one of the most comprehensive tests of racing talent in the nation.  To win an AMA No. 1 plate at the event, racers must demonstrate mastery of all three flat track disciplines and have the endurance to remain competitive through four days of competition. We are looking forward to another great year of competition at the event.”

Racers who have the highest point totals across all three disciplines of flat track racing will receive AMA National Number 1 plates.  In addition, the AMA Youth Flat Track Racer of the Year and Vet/Senior Flat Track Racer of the Year will be announced at the end of the event.

Racers may also compete for the Nicky Hayden AMA Flat Track Horizon Award.  The award honors an amateur racer poised for success at the professional level.
