Indian returns as sponsor of Euro flat track series

Indian has become the brand to beat in pro flat track racing, and it’s headed back to Europe for another season of the DTRA championship.

The DTRA (Dirt Track Racing Association) has events in Europe and the UK, and for 2020, will once again have an officially branded Indian Motorcycle European Flat Track Series.

This year, there are three classes: Hooligan, Vintage (for pre-1975 machines) and Pro. The series kicks off May 2-3 at the Hells Race in Holland (a light shale short-track race at Lelystad Stadium). The next race is the Greenfield TT, June 6-7 in the UK (open only to Pro and Vintage classes, as Hooligan bikes can’t handle the jump sections in the course). This is also part of  the UK’s DTRA Indian Motorcycle Flat Track Nationals Series.

On June 13, the El Rollo event runs at Wheels and Waves festival in San Sebastian, Spain, on a dirt short-track course suitable for all classes. The series closes down with the September 18-20 Krowdrace in Parchim, Germany. This shale half-mile course is open to all classes.

Although there’s a “pro” class, Indian says this is an amateur series, and you certainly won’t get rich racing it. Indian’s paying 200 Euros to winners of the Pro class, and winners of Vintage and Hooligan classes get 150 Euros. Of course, local promoters may have other swag or prizes up for grabs as well.

Indian says it plans to announce its factory riders soon.

Registration is free, and closes before the first race. Check out the DTRA’s website for more details (you can also sign up for the UK series while you’re there).
