Royal Enfield is about to enter the world of American Flat Track, with the help of racing veteran Johnny Lewis.

Lewis and his Moto Anatomy team are putting together a flat track campaign based on Royal Enfield’s Interceptor 650 motorcycle; they’ll be running it in select rounds of AMA’s flat track series this year, in the Production Twins class.

The project starts at the Daytona TT, where Lewis will reveal the new Twins FT bike, as Royal Enfield is calling it. This flat tracker originally debuted at last year’s EICMA show, and was built by Harris Performance. Lewis will run the bike at the Laconia short track race on June 13, and then will run the rest of the season’s short track events in Production Twins class. The FT will also race in the Super Twins class at the Sturgis Buffalo Chip TT and Peoria TT as a wildcard.

Along with the 650-based flat tracker, Moto Anatomy will also use a smaller Royal Enfield FT411 flat tracker to run the Royal Enfield Slide School at select events. This is a flat track riding school, and the bike will be based on the Himalayan adventure bike.

“While our focus is on development, there is great potential in the platform and it’s encouraging to see a manufacturer with as much history as Royal Enfield entering AFT,” Lewis said. “It’s also great to see Royal Enfield helping grow the sport of motorcycling in North America with its new rider initiatives.”

You can find more information on Moto Anatomy at As for the racing, it’ll be on NBCSN and NBC Sports Gold—check your local TV listings for channel numbers and show times. The season’s full schedule is here.
