BMW Recalls Certain R 1250 GS and R 1250 RT Models
Recently there has been a spate of recalls and BMW has issued a few of them. This time around, the recall affects only 4 motorcycles. But the issue could be serious. BMW says the pivot pin that connects the final drive to the swing arm may be damaged.
The problem could cause the connection between the final drive and the swing arm to loosen. If the motorcycle has this defect, the loose connection between the swing arm will reduce stability and control. Obviously, this presents an increased risk of a crash.

BMW will notify owners to bring the affected machines to a BMW dealer where the dealer will replace the pivot pin free of charge. This recall is expected to begin on May 11, 2020.
In the interim, owners may contact BMW Customer Service at 1-800-525-7417. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 and cite NHTSA recall number 20V165000. Or owners can go to www.safercar.gov.
