It wasn’t long ago that we told you about Wendy Crocket and her record-breaking win during last year’s Iron Butt Rally. Wendy is the first woman to win the Iron Butt. To finish at the top, she rode nearly 13,000 miles in eleven days and completed the Iron Butt with 154,086 points.
AMA National Award
Well, now you can add another win to Wendy’s growing portfolio. The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) recently selected three recipients for its 2020 national awards. The AMA says its national awards recognize outstanding contributions in the world of motorcycling. They also acknowledge the support of the AMA’s mission to promote the motorcycle lifestyle and protect the future of motorcycling.
For 2020, Wendy is the winner of the AMA’s 2020 Bessie Stringfield Award. The Stringfield award commemorates the accomplishments of AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame member Bessie Stringfield. It is given to recognize the winner’s efforts to introduce motorcycling to new or underserved markets.
Endurance rider Wendy Crockett has won an AMA National Award.
Wendy is a long-time AMA member and a factory-trained technician. She loves being on her bike and as a result, has traveled the Americas extensively on two wheels. Her travels have taken her from Mexico to Newfoundland, and Key West to the Arctic Circle.
As you can imagine, as an Iron Butt competitor, Wendy specializes in long-distance and endurance riding. She travels in conjunction with the AMA LongRider program, the Iron Butt Association, and the Motorcycle Endurance Rider Association.
When told about the award, Wendy had this to say:
“I am deeply humbled and honored to be included among some of the most influential motorcyclists of the past decade, not to mention the iconic trailblazer Bessie Stringfield herself. I am extremely lucky to be in a position to share my passion with a broad spectrum of riders and future riders, and I hope to continue inspiring people to get out and enjoy life on two wheels.”
Congratulations Wendy on your well-earned award! We hope to see more of your achievements in the coming months and years.
