Royal Enfield is stepping up. The company is unilaterally extending its motorcycle’s warranty an additional three months due to the COVID-19 pandemic “lockdown.” In a message to customers, Royal Enfield’s UK site wrote:
Dear Royal Enfield Customer
Warranty Period Extension
We have officially announced that through the authorised UK dealer network, we are extending the warranty period by three months on any motorcycle whose period expires between March and May 2020.
This measure has been taken to ensure that customer support and experiences are not negatively impacted by the current lockdown.
Our Central Team will continue to monitor the official government and public health directives from across Europe about the closure of all non-essential retailers and should there be an announcement of further extensions to this period, then appropriate amendments to the current warranty extension will be made accordingly.
We introduced Roadside Assistance through our partners Allianz in early 2019 the vehicles that the warranty extension applies to are not linked with RSA service.

The move clearly shows Royal Enfield’s thinking as part of the motorcycle community. There’s no mandatory reason for Royal Enfield to extend their machine’s warranty other than providing customer support, and that’s a good thing. And ultimately, it will cost them money.

There has been no formal announcement that warranties will be extended in the USA however. But here, Royal Enfield is already showing its interest in teaching motorcycles and motorcycling to budding motorcyclists. It participates in the Build Moto Mentor Program. This program aims to teach high school students professional and technical skills related to motorcycles and motorcycling.
We told you about the Build program last December. During the program, Royal Enfield will donate 16 Royal Enfield Classic 500 motorcycles. They will also donate parts, support, and technical training.
While Royal Enfield isn’t alone in working with its customers and future customers, it’s refreshing to see a company voluntarily spend money to grow motorcyclists. This is particularly true when there is no immediate return on its investment.
