Looking for a new tent? If your local government hasn’t shut down camping and riding during the coronavirus pandemic, and you’re in need of some new equipment, you might be interested in the changes Big Agnes has made to its Copper Spur ultralight tents.

Big Agnes is best-known to the camping, hiking and outdoors crowd, but the gear that works so well in those roles is also well-suited to the needs of adventure riders. If you want to keep your camping load light and compact, then ultralight backpacking gear is well-suited to that task.

The Copper Spur tents have been a major line for Big Agnes since 2008, coming before the company’s other ultralight designs. For 2020, the Copper Spur tents now have awning-style vestibule doors and a new proprietary ultralight double-nylon ripstop fabric (with different denier ratings to keep its toughness, but reduce weight). Big Agnes also included the new TipLok Tent Buckle, which  is a multi-function fitting that’s supposed to combine pole positioning, rainfly attachment, tensioning and stakeout functions to make setup easier. There’s also a new mezzanine design to store gear. Overall, the new Copper Spur tents still a familiar design to Big Agnes fans (still got the same basic architecture, with two-door design and DAC tent poles), but the company says the tent line has been completely re-designed.

The entire Big Agnes Copper Spur line is at the company’s website, ranging from one-man tents to four-man tents, in various configurations. Pricing starts at $259.95 US, with footprint sold separately.
