Ducati North America is recalling certain 2018 Multistrada 1260, Multistrada 1260 S and Multistrada Pikes Peak motorcycles.  A defect could potentially cause the sidestand to break unexpectedly.

Ducati says that ongoing product quality tests have identified a defect due to the manufacturing process of a supplier of the side stand.  Specifically, the side stand may be improperly welded.  The defect could potentially cause the side stand to separate at the weld and break.  This could increase the risk of damage to the motorcycle and/or injury to the rider.

To remedy this situation, Ducati will notify owners and dealers will replace the side stand free of charge.  Owners of affected machines may contact Ducati Customer Service at 1-888-391-5445 and should cite Ducati recall number SRV-RCL-19-004.  Owners may also obtain additional information from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 and site NHTSA Campaign Number 19V825000.  Or, owners can access NHTSA’s website www.safercar.gov also has information.
