Indian is showing off a new member of the FTR family, the FTR 1200 Carbon.  The digitally hosted reveal offered insights into the latest member of the Indian family.

The FTR 1200 Carbon’s headlight nacelle has lots of swoopy carbon fiber.

FTR 1200 Carbon fiber bits

As its name implies, the new model features lots of carbon fiber bits.  The headlight nacelle, front fender, seat cowl, and airbox cover (i.e., false fuel tank) are all carbon fiber.  In keeping with the lightweight theme, stainless steel exhaust tubes connect to a matt black twin titanium Akropovic’ low mount mufflers.  To minimize unsprung weight, both the front and rear axles are hollow.

FTR Carbon Engine and technology

Indian says the FTR 1200 Carbon packs a 1203cc twin-cylinder engine providing a claimed 124 horsepower and 88 lb-ft of torque.  That power can be managed via the use of 3 different ride modes, Sport, Standard, and Rain.  The modes adjust the lean-angle sensitive stability control, ABS, traction control, and wheelie mitigation control.   Indian says that each mode provides unique throttle response and traction control intervention levels to suit the rider’s preference and road conditions.

The FTR 1200 Carbon features a 4.3 inch touchscreen display.

Suspension

The FTR Carbon’s suspension is fully adjustable at both ends.  Up front, a fully adjustable 43mm upside-down fork provides 150mm of travel.  At the rear, a monoshock with a piggyback reservoir offers 150mm of travel as well.  It is adjustable for preload, compression, and rebound.  The maker of the suspension components was not announced.

Akrapovic exhaust

The FTR 1200 features these Akrapovic titanium mufflers as standard equipment.

Braking

Brembo provides the braking on this machine.  The front sports dual radially mounted 320mm Brembo discs grasped by a Brembo M4 3.4 four-piston calipers.  At the rear, stopping is done with a single 260mm disc grabbed by single Brembo P-34.2 two-piston caliper.

Rear shock FTR carbon

Both ends of the FTR 1200 Carbon have fully adjustable suspension.

The new Indian model also features standard ABS as well as a power assist slipper clutch.

The exact release date and pricing are TBA.
