Overland Expo goes virtual for 2020!
Can’t make it to Overland Expo this year? No worries. If you can’t travel to Overland Expo, you can check out the event’s new virtual show, running mid-May.
Overland Expo had bumped its schedule to three events for 2020, with shows in Arizona, Colorado and Virginia. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic meant Overland Expo West (the first show in the schedule, planned for the May 16 weekend) had to be pushed forward to July. It’s now running July 24-26 at Fort Tuthill, in Flagstaff, Arizona (the originally planned location).
Instead, Overland Expo’s organizers have put together another event for May 16. It’s called Virtual Overland Expo, and it’s running 100% online. It’s intended to serve as a preview of what’s coming at Overland Expo West in July, with much of the same content delivered through the Internet instead of in-person. Expo staff will host educational seminars, there’ll be video showcases of adventure bikes and motorcycles, a sample of short films that are screening at the Overland Film Festival, prizes and giveaways, and show specials from exhibitors.
This one-day virtual show is free, with videos running on YouTube starting 12 PM ET (9 AM PST). You can find the full schedule of videos here. The film festival lineup is still to be announced (keep an eye on this page for more details). There’s even a virtual campground, where you can reserve your spot by submitting photos of your overland rig.
Although there’s no charge to take part in the event, there is a donation button for the Overland Expo Foundation. Through May 18, the Foundation is sending any donations to Flagstaff businesses and organizations supporting local first responders and Flagstaff-area shelters struggling to support demand due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
