CFMoto Launches KTM Based Tourer
CFMoto is showing off its largest, most luxurious, and powerful motorcycle, the 1250TR-G. The new bike was unveiled at the recent 2020 Chongqing Motor Expo.
It’s a “luxury-appointed” civilian version of the 1250J police and state guest escort motorcycle. CFMoto says the new machine is the successor to the company’s twin-cylinder 650TR-G.
The 1250TR-G is the civilian version of CFMoto’s Police bikes.
CFMoto and KTM partnership
The 1250TR-G has a somewhat familiar powerplant. Its 1279cc liquid-cooled v-twin is the result of CFMoto’s partnership with KTM. This engine makes the 1250TR-G China’s largest capacity and most powerful motorcycle. The bike’s engine connects to a six-speed transmission, with a slipper clutch and a chain final drive.
CFMoto claims that the bike makes 140 HP (105kW) at 8,500 RPM and nearly 89 ft-lb (120 nm) of torque at 7,000 RPM. This gives the 1250TR-G a claimed top speed of 137 mph (220 kph).
Despite the CFMoto branding, the engine is a variant of KTM’s LC-8 powerplant.
The bike’s front suspension uses a semi-active WP fork with electronically adjustable damping. The rear suspension also uses a semi-active WP monoshock that is electronically adjustable for preload and damping.
An all Brembo setup handles braking duties. Twin front four-piston, radial-mounted calipers clamp on twin 320mm floating discs. At the rear, a two-piston caliper grasps a single 240mm disc. The brakes are complemented by Bosch cornering ABS and traction control.
Luxury features
As a purported luxury bike, the machine has several features that you would expect to find on a machine in this category. The 1250TR-G features a premium JBL multimedia sound system, an electrically adjustable windscreen; heated grips and seat; a tire-pressure monitoring system, and a generous luggage capacity via hard panniers and a topbox, which includes a pillion seat backrest as standard.
The 1250TR-G features a full color display.
As a large bike, the 1250TR-G carries 6 gallons of fuel. CFMoto claims a curb weight of 661 pounds (300 kg) with full fuel and fluids.
The bike will be available in the first half of 2021. Pricing is TBA.
