Ducati launches Lamborghini-edition Diavel 1260
Ducati continues its fall roll-out for 2021 models, launching the Diavel 1260 Lamborghini.
What’s new here? The Ducati Diavel 1260 Lamborghini is really only a skin-deep overhaul for the Diavel S power cruiser—not that that’s a bad thing. The Diavel S puts the power into the term power cruiser. Or maybe that’s the muscle into the muscle bike. Either way, that Testastretta DVT 1262 engine, with variable valve timing, is on a whole new level when compared to air-cooled, made-in-America V-twins. Ducati claims it puts out 162 horsepower at 9,500 rpm and 95 pound-feet of torque at 7,500 rpm.
See, it even says it’s a Lamborghini. Photo: Ducati
Along with all that power, you get a comprehensive electronics package: Wheelie control, traction control, riding and power modes, etc.
The Diavel 1260 Lamborghini has all of that, but it’s also re-styled in the fashion of the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37. It’s loaded with carbon-fibre bits, just like you’d expect on a fancy-pants Italian sports car; the headlight, air intake and radiator cover supposedly recall the Lamborghini’s visual architecture. Same goes for the forged wheels (which are probably the only performance-enhancing feature on this bike).
It’s pricey, but that’s the cost of unobtanium exotica. Photo: Ducati
The seat, the muffler cover, the fender, the paint, the graphics: Centro Stile Ducati took inspiration from Lamborghini when designing all of it. And why shouldn’t they? After all, both manufacturers share the same owner, the Volkswagen Group. At least, for now—backroom shuffles and business deals mean this arrangement is unlikely to continue forever.
Ducati’s only make 230 of these bikes, and they’ll carry a $31,995 price tag in the US, plus taxes and fees. That’s a lot of cash
