MV Agusta To Build Adventure & Electric Motorcycles
MV Agusta (MV) CEO Timur Sardarov took the time to chat with Bike Social recently and had some interesting things to say. Sardarov let loose with a few fairly well-known tidbits as well as some that might surprise you. So we’re going to summarize what Sardarov said.
- Resurrecting MV has been made more difficult because of COVID. Sardarov thought that his company would be stable earlier but the brand has recovered with stable production, finances, and plans.
- COVID has the company about 3 – 4 months behind schedule but he says its employees are in good spirits and production is back to maximum capacity.
- MV’s highlight of 2020 is the fact that the marque rolled out five new models.
- In the next 2 – 3 years, MV will produce a wider range of mobility. They will start with the “lighter” mobility segment and move to electrically powered urban commuters.
- The company is working on a 500cc platform “with quite an interesting philosophy”.
- MV will announce an adventure range of bikes in the next 3 – 4 months.
- A brand new 950 and the company’s 800cc platform are going through major changes for Euro 5 emission requirements.
- The company is using the Euro 5 transition to make significantly more changes to the brand’s bikes. Sardarov went so far as to say the changes are major and that all of the company’s range could be considered new from next year.
- A replacement for the F4 sportbike is still on the drawing board. Sardarov said that his company has to work more towards electric propulsion, rather than saving internal combustion.
