The 38th annual Americade Motorcycle Touring Rally is moving to September 21 – 25, 20.  Traditionally held in June, the organizers have decided to hold the event three months later.

Christian Dutcher, Americade’s Director says that the move is being made to provide more confidence that the event will happen for Americade’s motorcycle industry partners, Expo vendors, attendees, and Lake George businesses.

“We want to make 100% sure that a 2021 Americade will happen, but we’re not confident an event of this size will be permissible in June.  But, moving it to September gives us a very high likelihood of it happening.  And, September is also a perfect time of year for riding, with mild temperatures, no rain, and foliage season
beginning.  It should be beautiful.”

“We’re very lucky to have found a 2021 date that works for the community and for the motorcycle industry.  I feared we may have to cancel until Americade 2022, but miraculously we are able to slide it into September.”

Besides trying to ensure the event can be held, the move to September has other benefits.  September is an excellent time of year for riding in the northeast.  According to Dutcher:

September is also a perfect time of year for riding, with mild temperatures, no rain, and foliage season beginning.  It should be beautiful.”

Americade during foliage season

Now that Americade is moving to September, it will occur during the foliage season in the Adirondack mountains.  It will also ensure that it will not overlap with annual family vacations that dominate the Lake George are from late June through Labor Day.  That should mean fewer people and more access to campgrounds, hotels, restaurants, and the like.

As usual, the event will have demo rides, entertainment, special events, and that the Lake George area has to offer.
