Royal Enfield Recalling Continental GT And INT 650
Royal Enfield is recalling both the Continental GT and INT 650 (Interceptor 650) for the model years 2018 through 2020. The Indian manufacturer says that road salt may cause corrosion on the brake calipers. The corrosion could cause the brakes to drag or decrease braking performance.
Although the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued the recall, very little additional information is currently available. Apparently, Royal Enfield has notified NHTSA of the problem but has yet to develop a remedy. As such, Royal Enfield has not yet provided a schedule for its product recall notification.
The Royal Enfield INT 650 (Interceptor 650) is also a subject of this recall.
It appears that all Royal Enfield Continental GT and INT 650 motorcycles manufactured during this time period are affected by this recall. Neither the total number of machines involved nor the VIN ranges for these bikes are presently available.
That said, Royal Enfield says it will notify owners, but that is all. Additional information will likely be forthcoming in the not too distant future. In the interim, owners may contact Royal Enfield Customer Service at 1-414-502-1214. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 and cite recall number 21V-045 or go to www.safercar.gov.
We have reached out to Royal Enfield requesting additional information. If we are successful, we’ll make that information available here.
