Moto Guzzi V9 Gets “New” Engine; Other Updates

Moto Guzzi is rolling out its 2021 V9 Bobber and V9 Roamer models.  The most significant development is that both machines get a version of the 853cc V-twin engine currently found in the V85 TT adventure touring bike.  Guzzi says that the new powerplant is good for 75 HP and about 54 lb-ft of torque.  That makes sense since the V85 TT makes a claimed 75 HP at 7,500 RPM.

V9 Bobber

The darker (literally and figuratively) and more minimalist of the two modes is the V9 Bobber.  It features a blackout treatment over most of the machine.  As it is the latest fashion, it also gets wide chunky tires on 16-inch rims at both the front and the rear.  As for other electronics, the Bobber now sports a new digital instrument panel.  Adding to the Bobbers style is a new DRL feature in the headlight in the shape of the Mandello Eagle.

V9 Roamer

The V9 Roamer is the more traditional of the two new V9 versions.  It, too, gets the V85 TT’s engine and is now available in a new color that Moto Guzzi calls Grigio Lunare (lunar grey).  The fuel tank, side panels now have glossy finishes.  Other than those changes, the V9 Roamer returns mostly unchanged.

V9 Roamer

The Moto Guzzi V9 Roamer comes with a $9,990 price tag.

As for things in common, both bikes come equipped with rubber-mounted footpegs, dual-channel switchable ABS, and the adjustable MGCT traction control system.

For the European market, both V9 versions are available in reduced power versions.  This is to keep both bikes in line with the Italian A2 license restriction.

In the US, the V9 Bobber has an MSRP of $10,490.  Its more traditional and less “custom” looking sibling, the Roamer, has a lower MSRP price of $9,990.
