According to multiple Indian outlets, Royal Enfield will soon release a scrambler model.  The new bike will use the company’s Himalayan platform and will be called the Scram 411.  Rumors have the bike close to production.  This could make sense as Royal Enfield’s CEO, Vinod Dasari, is on record saying the company plans to release a new model every quarter.

Himalayan platform

Although the Scram is based on the Himalayan platform, there will be several differences between the models.  The Scram will have a 19-inch front wheel in place of the Himalayan’s 21-inch unit.  It will use the same spoke wheels of the Himalayan, but alloy versions of the wheels may come later.

The Scram’s headlight cowl is new and mounts to the bike’s forks.  Its fuel tank will be marginally different to make it look more pleasing to the eye.  Powering the Scram 411 will be the Himalayan’s 411cc air/oil-cooled, single-cylinder engine.  It produces about 24 hp and 23 lb-ft of torque.

From spy shots, the Scram’s instrument cluster looks like the unit on Royal Enfield’s new Meteor 350.  The bike’s seating will consist of a single-piece unit and may be somewhat wider to enhance comfort.

Stopping power will come in the form of a single disc on each end of the machine.  The back of the bike remains very similar to the Himalayan.  It carries an LED tail/stop light unit and halogen turn indicators.

The suggested retail price for the Scram 411 in India will be between191,000 and ₹204,999 (~$2,575 and $2,765).  Expect the new bike in Indian showrooms between October and November 2021.  There’s no word whether the Scram 411 will make it to American shores.
