Backcountry Discovery Routes is raising funds again, and there’s a pretty decent prize up for grabs, if you donate to the cause. This year, BDR will give away a much-upgraded Yamaha Tenere 700 to the winner in its Motorcycle Sweepstakes Fundraiser … although, considering how much work the BDR does for adventure riders, maybe we’re all winners?

In the unlikely event that you haven’t heard of Backcountry Discovery Routes before, here’s a brief rundown of the non-profit organization. Founded in 2010 to promote remote adventure riding and help out the communities along the published routes, the original goal was to publish one new US-based adventure riding route every year. There are now 11 BDR routes to choose from, so they’ve managed to get what they wanted. Although the first BDR routes were mostly based in the western US, the organization has added eastern routes in recent years. Currently, BDR is working on a route through Wyoming.

Now, the BDR is raising money to help fund its work. With that end in mind, the org is working on a new sweepstakes contest. To participate, riders can buy tickets here, starting at $25 buy-in. The top prize is a 2021 Yamaha Tenere 700, with a long list of upgrades. As per the BDR website:

This 2021 Yamaha Ténéré 700 is professionally wrapped with BDR Special Edition graphics and meticulously outfitted with top-shelf upgrades from Touratech, Cyclops, Wolfman, TripleClamp Moto, Revzilla, Motoz, and more. The accessory list is long and includes upgraded suspension, steering damper, essential bike protection, slip-on exhaust, LED auxiliary lights, hard luggage system, a GPS unit loaded with all of the BDR tracks, agressive tires and much more. This dream machine is set-up specifically for riding Backcountry Discovery Routes, and even includes all 10 Butler BDR maps to help you plan your adventures. This is the most well-equipped bike that BDR has ever offered.

Backcountry Discovery Routes doesn’t mind if non-Americans donate, but the sweepstakes page notes “International donations are welcome with the understanding that the prize will need to be collected in Seattle, WA and may be subject to tax or importation limitations.”

The Wyoming BDR route is supposed to be officially released next January, and no doubt the money raised from this sweepstakes contest will go a long way towards helping to fund that route’s creation and promotion.
