Yezdi To Build A 300cc Himalayan Rival?

Mahindra-owned Classic Legends is in the process of bringing back at least three previously defunct motorcycle brands.  Their resurrection of Jawa is already complete.  The company is already producing four different Jawa models, the 42, Perak, Jawa, and “forty two” (a different model than the 42).

Now, it seems that its plan to bring back BSA is well underway.  Spy photos show what Thrustzone says is a 650 cc BSA test mule wearing camouflage.   If that claim is valid, then Classic Legends should be producing at least one BSA brand in the not too distant future.

Classic Legends resurrects Yezdi.

And that makes Yezdi the third Classic Legends brand that is waiting for revival.  And, the Indian outlet Gaadiwaadi says that the first Classic Legends Yezdi model may be an adventure bike.   One whose design will place it in direct competition with the Royal Enfield Himalayan.

From the front, the alleged new Yezdi has a more than a passing resemblance to the Royal Enfield Himalayan.

Spy video

Backing up Gaadiwaadi’s claim is a spy video showing a camouflaged bike that certainly has a significant resemblance to the Royal Enfield Himalayan.

The bike’s ergonomics look upright, with a raised handlebar and center-set footpegs.  And in typical adventure motorcycle fashion, the motorcycle has wire-spoked wheels on the front and rear and a decently tall windscreen.

Gaadiwaadi says that the new bike will likely get its power from the same 293cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine in the Jawa and 42. If it is the same engine, it will make about 27 hp and 20 lb-ft of torque.

However, they go on to say that there is a chance that the new Yezdi could get the Jawa Perak’s 334 cc single-cylinder engine.  It makes slightly more hp and torque.  That engine puts out about 30 hp and 24 lb-ft of torque.

Although Gaadiwaadi provides no specific information about the bike’s release date, they say that the new machine may be released sometime next year.
