Photos of the Week (15-2025)
Welcome to Photos of the Week. We begin with a shot you didn’t expect: a Harley chopper so classically and neatly done that I couldn’t resist it. In today’s world of overdone and ridiculous customs, this is a neat example of what made the brand famous. Extended springer fork, rigid frame, molded custom seat, sissy bar, and upswept exhaust pipes. It’s not too much or too little; in fact, if a chopper could be said to be unpretentious, this is what it looks like. We would not ride it, but we sure can admire the American craftsmanship of the build. The only thing wrong with it is the shovelhead engine – by rights it should be a panhead or even a knuckle, but that’s OK, enough of it is right. And what @Guzzikarl said about his submission (which includes the following five photos) sealed the deal. Rock and roll!
Pics taken overlooking Skaneatles Lake, Upstate NY. Met a Cornell professor on his V100 Mandello, from Italy no less, and a old Skool shovelhead chopper dude at a local stop while listening to Van Halen.
Guzzikarl was riding a 2023 BMW F750 GS, and his buddy’s 1250 GS is also pictured.
Man on the moon
Here’s a shot from @PassBagger of his 2024 KTM 790 ADV in the adobes of western Colorado. “Some of my favorite riding in the winter and spring before the snows subside in the high country. It’s like riding on the moon.” This photo was taken just a few days ago.
Land of the left lane
Here’s a couple of shots from @Fiercertonks, the first one picturing his buddy Richard’s Yamaha Tenere, taken from the seat of a KTM 1050.
My friend Richard and I took advantage of the good weather last weekend and headed down to Hastings from London, with a route plotted on the back roads.
Photos taken a few days ago.
Oklahoma trail
@Aces6 sent these three photos from his ride on the Trans America Trail in Oklahoma. “Ran into Wind Power, Fossil Power and Horsepower within a stone’s throw of each other. If you think about skipping Oklahoma on the TAT think twice. Anything but boring – but bypass if it rains. Special kind of gooey mud.”
He was riding a 2016 Honda Africa Twin a few years ago, when these were taken.
Fine NZ scenery
This shot of a KTM 690 Enduro enjoying the scenery comes from @Rusty and was taken a few weeks ago. “Looking at Branches Station at the end of Skippers Road near Queenstown. Otago, New Zealand.”
Scrambled and capable
@Fortis Mons ADV was in Arizona a few days ago when he shot the following two pics of his 2023 Royal Enfield Classic 350 engaged in some scenery improvement.
Weekend camping trip through the desert of Arizona on A-Cross Road (near Tonto Basin, AZ). Despite a 10% chance of rain, a strong storm system pushed through just as we set up camp for the night. The scrambled Classic 350 continues to prove itself as a capable touring machine.
Heart of the West
Here’s a shot from @GX-Man of a rider who had stopped to let others catch up. Our contributor saw the sunlit trees that had changed color behind the rider and figured it was “an opportunity for a great photo.” He was right – and we’ll let him explain further: “In the fall of 2021, 16 riders met in Meeker, CO to ride the ‘Heart of the West’ ride. 15 were from Texas and 1 (me) from Colorado. With a total of 16 riders, it is hard to arrange for lodging all at the same hotel so we split up into two groups of 8 and rode in opposite directions on the HoW route with the plan to meet up half way in Idaho Falls.
“When we met in Idaho Falls, one of the riders had invited Tony Heugel, the author and ‘Brain Child’ of the Heart of the West ride. What an interesting and enjoyable time the group had meeting and talking to Tony over dinner.
“This photo was of one of the riders in our group and was taken in the afternoon south of Flaming Gorge and north of Vernal, Utah as we rode through a canyon.”
Good roads, good trails
@Assquatch20 sent us this pic of his TW200 and two other bikes taken a couple of days ago “near the first Cub Mtn Run dual sport/adv event in Crawford, Tennessee. Really good trails in the Cub Mtn park and good roads in the area. Had a blast being with friends and putting some miles down.”
“Duck!” “No – vulture!”
We’ll let @Raphaël tell you what happened here: “Vultures in CA grow to a 6ft wingspan and 5-6lbs. They don’t seem to devote too much energy learning to calculate the trajectory of 50mph motorcycles on curvy roads. This one disagreed with three of its friends and waited for the last moment to take off across the road into my lane, instead of safely the opposite direction.
“It went through the windshield, bounced off my ducked helmet, lost a lot of feathers, but somehow had flown away by the time I turned around to collect the pieces.
“If I rode a naked bike, I would have a great story of cradling a pissed vulture in my arms.
“Stay safe out there.” Photo taken a few days ago. That unhappy bike is a 2016 NC700X Honda.
Spring ride
Here are some shots of @Snow Doctor’s 2018 KTM Super Adventure R in Montana’s high country a few weeks ago.
First ride of the year. Northwest Montana Swan Mountains. Got unseasonably warm in March so took a scenic ride. The forest roads were still closed to everything but snowmobiles so they’ll have to wait a bit. Temperatures ranged between 50 and 75F. Nice to have the bike out for a couple hours.
Catching a wave
@Fishyrich says took his 2008 Yamaha Tenere XGT660Z out for a ride down the west coast of Ireland a few days ago to watch his son surf in a “sketchy spot.” “After crossing a few fields and taking some wrong turns I found him and his mates getting a few waves before sunset. I snapped this pic before the fun ride home.” This is a nice sunset photo, which we always love to end the page with.
And that’s right – we’re finished for now. We do hope you had as fine a time as we did, and you’ll come back next week for more!
