Engineer Re-builds A Honda Grom With an 1199 Panigale R Engine

Honda’s Grom is a neat little bike.  Since its introduction, people have taken the time to customize their machines into something special.  Something that reflects who they are and what they like.  Recently, this little Honda Grom showed up with something more than some farkles and chrome.  This miniature two-wheeler sports a  Ducati 1199 Panigale R engine as its powerplant.

The bike is the brainchild of an engineer by the name of Mario Kleff.  Kleff lives in Thailand, where small-displacement bikes far outnumber their larger displacement counterparts.   Using uber engineering and moto skills, Kleff crammed the big Ducati v-twin engine into the Groms light frame rails.

Kleff wasn’t happy with just jamming the engine in; he decided to make the engine a stressed member of the little bike’s frame.  Nice touch.  But that wasn’t enough for Kleff.  He also fabricated a custom exhaust that is a work of art itself.

Keeping things nice and tidy, Kleff relocated the engine’s radiator underneath the saddle.  This bike is a fantastic piece of engineering and imagination.  With 195 hp on tap, this bike must be one hell of a ride.

But we’ll never know, unfortunately.   The little bike reportedly developed a fuel leak and burned to the ground.  Such is the price of this piece of extreme engineering.

What do you think of the little Grom?  Let us know in the comments below.
