advrider Posted August 25, 2020 Share Posted August 25, 2020 BMW Motorrad is recalling 9,329 motorcycles. The recall is for the potential of a leaking front brake caliper. BMW says that over time, a leaking front brake caliper may reduce the amount of brake fluid in the reservoir. And, that a low volume of brake fluid could affect brake performance and increase the risk of a crash. The caliper recall covers a wide range of BMW motorcycles; adventure, touring, sport, and sport touring. According to the recall, the front brake calipers may leak brake fluid when parked. This failure causes the motorcycle not to meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 122, “Motorcycle Brake Systems.” The 2020 BMW S 1000 RR sportbike. The recall pertains to different years and models of motorcycles. As such, we have provided a full list of affected motorcycles below: MAKE MODEL MODEL YEAR(S) BMW R 1250 GS 2019 – 2020 BMW R 1250 GS ADVENTURE 2019 – 2020 BMW R 1250 RT 2019 – 2020 BMW S 1000 RR 2020 BMW S 1000 XR 2020 BMW will notify affected owners, and dealers will inspect the front calipers. If necessary, the dealer will replace the front brake calipers with an improved version free of charge. The 2020 BMW S 1000 XR. This recall is expected to begin on October 6, 2020.
