Quin Launches Smart Adventure Helmet With Crash Detection

Quin Design smart adventure motorcycle modular helmet

Texas-based company, Quin, has announced the addition of a new smart helmet to their lineup. After introducing a range of retro and full-face smart lids earlier this year, the helmet maker is now entering the adventure segment with the release of a two-in-one modular helmet packed with technology.

Labeled by Quin as the “world’s first smart modular helmet,” the new ‘Quest’ lid is equipped with an integrated Bluetooth communication system as well as the company’s Intelliquin technology that uses sensors to detect a crash and call emergency contacts. An SOS live tracking beacon further provides a GPS location so they can find you.

“The system is designed to act automatically only in worst-case scenarios when the detection system indicates the rider has likely experienced a concussive or incapacitating event. Among other factors, the helmet must experience peak g-force of 70 g’s, which is more than a medium impact typically will produce,” states Quin.

The Bluetooth system is operated with a built-in small control panel that sits flush against the helmet. Five buttons allow the rider to handle phone calls, play music or manually trigger the SOS Beacon to share their live location with emergency contacts at any time.

In spite of all the technology built into the Quest, the new lid is fairly light for a modular helmet weighing in at 3.66 lbs with the visor removed and 3.86 lbs (size M) with the visor on. The helmet features a premium K6 Carbon Fiber weave and Quin’s Aerodynamic Ventilation System (AVS) with large upper intakes that pour into striations integrated into the EPS liner.

The two-in-one helmet design provides riders full-face protection with the option of open face accessibility. The Quest also comes with a drop-down, dark smoke internal sun visor, UV coated clear shield, removable peak visor, thumb actuated easy-open front, and integrated chin-bar venting.

The new Quest helmet features an intermediate-oval shape (sizes XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL) and retails at MSRP $699. The helmet was scheduled for Spring release, but a run of 200 helmets is being made available for a limited fall introduction. For more information go to Quin’s website.
