advrider
Electric motorcycle manufacturers are in the same boat as their ICE-powered counterparts when it comes to safety. In this regard, Zero Motorcycles is recalling certain SR/F and SR/S motorcycles for a problem with the front brake switch. According to Zero, water may enter the brake switch, which can prevent the brake light from illuminating when a rider applies the front brake. In addition, the bike’s cruise control may not shut off automatically when the front brake is applied. Both issues can increase the risk of a crash, injury, and death. Zero’s SR/S is also part of this recall. A total of 659 2020 SR/F and SR/S motorcycles are affected by this recall which is already underway. Zero will notify owners of the affected machines, and dealers will replace the front brake switch free of charge. For more information, owners may contact Zero customer service at 1-888-841-8085 and cite Zero recall number SV-ZMC-021-020. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 and cite NHTSA Campaign Number 20V704000, or go to NHTSA’s website www.safercar.gov.
