advrider
Allegiant Airline’s plan to offer new limited flights into Rapid City Airport (RAP) in time for Sturgis is gaining traction. According to NewsCenter1, the RAP may soon be issuing Request For Proposals (RFP) for onsite motorcycle rentals. The airport’s Board of Directors is authorizing its staff to start the RFP process. If successful, there will be a motorcycle concession on the airport’s grounds similar to existing car rental counters. Such a concession would give rally-goers the opportunity to rent a motorcycle moments after stepping off the plane. Allegiant will offer nine new special limited routes to support the Sturgis Rally. Image credit: Allegiant Airlines The RAP Airport’s Executive Director Patrick Dame says that the airport experiences many arrivals during the rally. And he says that he expects even more as a result of Allegiant’s new direct flights. Dame is quoted as saying: “We do have semis that come in that have people’s bikes that are on them but we know we also have some folks who are flying in that go elsewhere to rent a bike and we just want to be able to provide that kind of service right here to our customers at the airport as well.” RAP onsite motorcycle rentals Having motorcycle rentals onsite at RAP will be the first time bikes will be available for rental there. There’s no word about whether rentals will only be available for Sturgis or whether there is a long-term plan to offer bikes at RAP. There are plenty of things to do and see by motorcycle in the area. The nearby Black Hills of South Dakota offer terrific riding. Also close by is the Black Hills National Forest, Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, and the Crazy Horse Memorial. All are within about an hour’s ride from the airport. If the plan does come to fruition, it will be interesting to see whether bikes other than cruisers will be available. Vezi sursa
