BMW Motorrad Adds Black Collection Soft Luggage

BMW Motorrad is adding soft luggage to its motorcycling portfolio.  In a recent press release, BMW says that their Black Collection soft luggage is the “perfect biking complement for all weather conditions.”  Each of the soft luggage articles uses TPU coated polyester fabric.

• Tank bags
• Panniers (which they call side bags)
• Rear bags
• Backpacks
• Hip bag

Tank Bag

BMW’s Tank Bag Black Collection comes in various fitments, including its GS, Tour, and Roadster models.  Each has bags in both small and large sizes.  BMW says that “Plug-in fasteners at the front and back allow you to mount and remove the tank bag quickly, e.g., when refueling.”

Side Bags (Panniers)

The “Side Bag Black Collection” is available in two sizes with 10 or 15-liter capacities.  The side bags have a TPU coating and offer storage space, especially for light luggage. If you would like to reduce the bags’ profile, you can do this by using the bag’s compression straps.  To use the side bags, you’ll have to purchase BMW’s vehicle-specific mounts.

Rear Bag

The Black Collection Rear Bag comes in two sizes.  One for shorter trips and one for longer journeys.  Both the small and large versions include a waterproof TPU coating for weather resistance.  Also, the rear bag’s inner bag is waterproof.  The bag’s “rubberized” two-way main compartment zip is water repellent and lockable.

Backpack

BMW says its Backpack Black Collection “…is ideal for longer tours with a little more luggage.”  The backpack’s volume can change from 25 liters up to 30 liters.  Its main compartment is waterproof and uses a roll closure and taped seams to keep contents dry.

Its main compartment has a 15-inch laptop compartment which can be subdivided.  The lower section of the backpack can be extended to accommodate a full-face helmet.  Additional storage space is available in the pack’s four “splash-proof” outer pockets.  You can attach additional luggage to the outside of the pack using its two fastening straps with buckles.

Hip Bag

The BMW Hip Bag Black Collection features a compartment to hold small items like your wallet, keys, and smartphone.  It has a waterproof main compartment using all-around 2-way zippers.  The hip bag also has three outer zippered pockets and an additional small mesh pocket.
