It appears that motorcycle braking systems have become the subject of recent recalls.   Both Kawasaki and Zero are recalling motorcycles for brake issues.  And now, Triumph’s Rocket 3 is joining the brake recall club.

Triumph is recalling a total of 1,241 model year 2020 and 2021 Rocket 3 motorcycles.  The recall covers the full spectrum of the Rocket 3 lineup.  It includes the Rocket 3 GT, Rocket 3 R, and Rocket 3 TFC.

The recall revolves around the possibility of trapped air inside the antilock brake system (ABS) modulator.  Triumph says that the trapped air may over time deteriorate rear braking efficiency.  This trapped air may increase the bike’s stopping distance and increase the risk of a crash.

Triumph will notify owners of affected motorcycles and dealers will bleed the rear brake system free of charge.  The recall is will begin on December 16, 2020.

For more information, owners may contact Triumph customer service at 1-678-854-2010 and cite Triumph recall number SRAN 587.  Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) and cite NHTSA Campaign Number 20V740000.  Additional details may also be found on NHTSA’s website www.safercar.gov.
