This July, online gear retailer Revzilla is kickstarting a new adventure bike rally. The new Get On! ADV Festival runs in South Dakota, offering riders the chance to sample the area’s great street and offroad riding, as well as the other usual rally fun.

The new Get On! ADV Festival is scheduled for July 15-18 2021. Base camp is the legendary Buffalo Chip campground, the home base for many Sturgis rally trips. Now, the adventure bike crew has the 600-acre facility to themselves, with plenty of tenting space, and some cabins and RV space available as well.

Once you’ve set up your tent, what’s there to do?

The Get On! rally has the usual stuff going on: Adventure bike training (female-only, or co-ed), demo rides, group rides, and parts/accessories for sale. Revzilla cracks wise that “This might be the only adventure rally where your bike comes home in better shape than when you started.” Not only can you buy farkles on-site, but the wrenchers of Fozzy’s Cycle Shop will be there to install them, or perform maintenance, if you want to relax instead of mechanicking on your machine.

The Black Hills area has a reputation for great scenery and riding, and Revzilla says this year’s rally has routes suitable for riders of every level, from beginner to pro. And, you won’t be stuck in Sturgis rally traffic.

Of course, as Sturgis is hallowed ground for Harley-Davidson enthusiasts, the MoCo will have the Pan America there, for demo rides. BMW’s going to have its own special program, with the GS Trophy Course challenge running, with BMW Performance Centre pros offering tips and tricks to improve your riding.

The four-day pass for the event is $260, and includes your tenting pass (if you choose to go that route), as well as breakfasts on Friday through Sunday (gluten-free and vegetarian options available). There will be food and beverage vendors on-site for other meal times, if you want to go that route. There will also be live music Friday night (Big Skillet Band) and Saturday night (Tye Dye Volcano).

Attending the event will be our own Mike Botan (aka. Ride2ADV), Revzilla’s Spurgeon Dunbar and Jen Dunstan, members of the REV’IT! women’s team and several others to be announced soon.

This could be a great chance for a family-friendly moto trip to the Black Hills; it should be quiet, as it’s weeks before the Sturgis Rally.

The Buffalo Chip basecamp opens at 1 PM on Thursday for the event, and closes at 5 PM Sunday. For more details, head over to Revzilla’s write-up, and stay tuned to ADVrider—we’ll share more info when it comes through.
