advrider
Finally, someone’s done it. Working for Common Tread XP’s YouTube channel, Zack Courts and Ari Henning have recreated the minibike road trip from the movie Dumb and Dumber, filming their adventure along the way. They built their own minibike, and rode the homebrewed deathtrap from Nebraska to Aspen, just like Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne in the movie. They even committed to the little details, with passenger Ari Henning riding through the Rockies sans gloves! You can see it, in all its glorious stupidity, below. [embedded content] For those of you who aren’t in the know: This is a spot-on homage to the 1994 movie where Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, driving across the US in their dog-shaped van, run out of money after taking the wrong highway exit. Flat-broke in Nebraska, not their goal of Aspen, they manage to continue their trip by trading their van for a minibike (“I can get 70 miles to the gallon on this hog!”). [embedded content] I must admit that I’m extremely jealous of Zack and Ari’s adventure, even though it looks like it was a totally miserable experience. Years ago, I rode across the US to Overland Expo, returning by a route very similar to the path taken in the movie. I was looking for landmarks from the movie along the Colorado-Nebraska stretch. I even did some background digging ahead of the trip, wondering if I could grab a burger at Dante’s Inferno. Alas, that wasn’t an option, and I certainly didn’t have the money to stay in the Presidential Suite of the Danbury Hotel (actually the Stanley Hotel, and it’s not even in Aspen). At least I can live out my dumbest dreams vicariously, thanks to Common Tread XP and Zack and Ari. Vezi sursa
