advrider
To celebrate its birth, the new Kawasaki Motors Limited is changing its corporate logo. The company will now use the “River Mark” logo in place of its previous logos. Back in November 2020, we told you about Kawasaki Heavy Industries’ planned to spin off its motorcycle business. Well, the spin-off is complete, and it seems that the new motorcycle company wants to head back to its roots. Kawasaki still intends to “Let the good times roll.” “River Mark” history The River Mark harkens way back to Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) 19th century past, the 1870s to be precise. The new logo is a heavily stylized design of the Japanese kanji for the word “kawa,” which means river. The unique logo first appeared on the flags of ships owned by Kawasaki Tsukiji Shipyard, which eventually became Kawasaki Heavy Industries. The Kawasaki River Mark is currently used on its H2 and H2R hyperbikes. Special projects More recently, the logo found its way onto some of Big Green’s special projects. For example, the mark proudly sits at the front of Kawasaki’s H2 and H2R supercharged hyperbikes. You can now find the River Mark on Kawasaki’s brand pages, including its Kawasaki Motors webpage, Twitter, and YouTube channels. Of course, Kawasaki executive management has something to say about the rollout of the company’s new logo. Mr. Masaya Tsuruno, the Managing Director of Kawasaki Motors Europe, had this to say about the new identity: “The world has changed immeasurably in the century plus history of the Kawasaki company – none more so that in the past few years. As we roll out our new corporate identity with the River Mark at its core, we look to take a next, bold step in terms of technology and engineering as well as enhancing the lives of countless people around the world with a focus on sustainability and emerging green technologies.” “While some things change others remain constant such as our commitment to be the best in our chosen fields; the River Mark is a fitting symbol of this commitment.” Kawasaki has recently made some bold statements about its plans going forward. And with the rollout of its new and somewhat historical logo, it will be interesting to see what the new River Mark logo brings in the future.
