advrider
Honda has released its 2022 CBR650R for Europe. Unfortunately, there’s little in the line of changes. However, the machine received a significant update in the 2021 model year, and Honda is apparently happy with the bike as is. Basically, the only notable changes are available paint colors and compliance with the new Euro 5 emission requirements. The 2022 edition of the bike sees two paint schemes available. First up is Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic with orange highlights. Your other choice is Grand Prix Red, with an updated graphics treatment. If you’re not familiar with the European CBR650R, below is from Honda’s press release for this year’s bike. Frame The 2022 CBR650R bike features a steel diamond frame using pressed swingarm pivots and twin elliptical spars. It offers a rigidity balance specifically tuned to deliver balanced handling and excellent rider feedback. Rake and trail are set at 25.5 degrees and 101 mm, respectively, while wheelbase comes in at 1,450 mm. Suspension Showa’s Separate Function Big Piston (SFF-BP) 41mm USD forks can be found at the bike’s front end. They feature a pressure separation damper in one fork tube and a spring mechanism in the other. Together, Honda says they offer high damping performance with a lighter weight and increased feel, bump absorption, and control. At the rear, there’s a single tube monoshock that attaches directly to the diecast aluminum swingarm. The 2022 Honda CBR650R Mat Gunpowder Black Metallic. Engine Cradled in the bike’s frame is a 649 cc 16-valve engine. It makes its peak power of 70 kW (94 hp) @ 12,000 rpm with a peak torque of 63 Nm (47 lb-ft) @ 9,500 rpm. Brakes Slowing the bike is a pair of four-piston radial-mount front brake calipers grabbing 310 mm wave pattern floating discs. At the rear, there’s a single-piston caliper clamping on a single 240 mm disc. A two channel ABS modulates braking when necessary. Fuel consumption Fuel consumption is said to be 20.4 km/l (48 mpg). Honda says that the bike’s 15.4-liter (4 gallon) tank will provide a range of over 300 km (186 miles). Pricing The 2022 CBR650R carries a MSRP of £8,149 ($10,905).
