advrider
KTM appears to be readying a road going RC8 sportbike. There’s already an RC 8C track only machine, but it looks like KTM may be preparing to release a street version. According to German outlet Motorrad, a street ready looking machine has been spotted and there are lots of pictures of it on the road. The pictures are quite clear and there’s a lot to be learned about the road going version of the KTM RC8. The KTM RC 8C limited edition track only motorcycle. What’s it got? Motorrad draws a lot of conclusions from the pictures. They suggest that the streetable RC8 will be based upon the 890 Duke R naked bike platform. It will have a similar swingarm, WP suspension (of course) and the Duke 890’s parallel twin cylinder engine. If it’s the same, it will produce 121 hp and 99 Nm (73 lb-ft) of torque. The frame will likely have a more conventional tubular setup to cut cost. In addition, the wheels and braking system will be lifted from the Duke 890R. But Motorrad takes the images one step further saying that there’s a revised cylinder head, a larger radiator inside the fairing, an all new Akropovic’ exhaust with a catalytic converter, and KTM’s well-known TFT display. The KTM RC 8C. Ultimately, this RC8 will likely not be up to par with the 100 track only RC 8C specials that KTM built in a partnership with Kramer. Although it carried a nearly $39,000 price tag, the 100 limited edition bikes sold out in 5 minutes. So if this bike does make it to production, you have to wonder about what price KTM will put on it. Particularly if they want to sell it in volume. Does this bike appeal to you? If it does, what would you be willing to pay for it? Let us know in the comments below. All photo credit: KTM Vezi sursa
