Back in June, we told you that Classic Legends (owned by Mahindra) was working to resurrect the BSA brand.  Then in September, spy photos of the to be BSA branded bikes emerged. So it certainly looked like BSA bikes would be back.

And now, it’s official.  On Twitter, BSA Motorcycles Official reveals the “Return of a Legend.”

BSA says:

We’ve evolved, but our DNA remains unaltered.”

So it will be interesting to see what the first resurrected BSA products look like.  Will they be all-new designs, copies of other Classic Legends bikes with BSA branding, or something in between?

With modular platforms being the motorcycle manufacturing method of the day, it’s unlikely that the new BSAs will arrive as entirely new designs.  But BSA is going to need something to set itself apart from the other Classic Legends produced bikes. So the question is, how different will they be?

With the backing of Mahindra, Classic Legends should have the cash and manufacturing capability to bring the brand back in volume.  It just doesn’t make sense to spend lots of money to build only a few bikes.  So we can expect Classic Legends’ complete attention on developing the brand.  And that’s a very positive trait.

BSA reveal

We won’t have to wait long to see at least one of the new BSAs.  The official website shows that at least one model will be revealed on December 4 at the UK’s NEC Motorcycle Live Show.

Big plans

And, it looks like there are big plans for the brand in the future.  The UK’s Motor1.com says it was able to capture some images from BSA’s website on November 25th (since taken down), which shows model names for the following bikes:

  • A65
  • Bantam
  • Blazer
  • Golden Flash
  • Gold Star
  • Lightning
  • Silverstar
  • Spitfire

It will be interesting to see the new bike when they arrive and what a new company can do to improve the brand.  Stay tuned.
