advrider
Damon Motors is teasing a new variant of its Hypersport electric motorcycle. The new bike is to be a streetfighter model, with Damon providing the following description: HyperFighter Colossus: a raw, muscular-silhouetted, electrifying streetfighter motorcycle. HyperFighter Colossus is the ultimate stripped-down urban assault sportbike derived from Damon’s first bike, HyperSport, and built upon the company’s groundbreaking HyperDrive™ technology. HyperDrive is the world’s first monocoque-constructed, 100 percent electric, multi-variant powertrain, forming the nucleus of all Damon motorcycles. The HyperSport family of motorcycles delivers earth-scorching power, ferocious design and new technologies including CoPilot™ and Shift™, standard on all models for smarter, safer, more exhilarating riding. Hyperfigher Colossus Damon will release 100 “fully-optioned” Hyperfigher Colossus “First-in-Line” bikes online. On December 8, 2021, at 09:00 Eastern Time, you can place a deposit and make a reservation at Damon.com. Once sold out, this version of the Colossus will be retired. Like its sibling, Damon will officially roll out the Hyperfighter Colossus at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). You can see the bike there on January 5, 2022, at Noon Pacific Time at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Booth CP-16. Jay Giraud, Damon Motors’ co-founder, and CEO described the Hyperfighter Colossus as: “The HyperFighter Colossus motorcycle redefines the streetfighter category with a powerfully-charged limited edition model, ” said Jay Giraud, co-founder and CEO, Damon Motors. “The HyperFighter is a stripped-down demon of a bike that is not for the faint of heart, so that riders can fight traffic, fight gas, and fight compromise. We’re excited to give the naked sports bike fanatic everything they want, coupled with the unrivalled technological features found only on Damon bikes. Only 100 HyperFighter Colossus motorcyclists will hit the road, making them highly coveted.” Funding round To keep things rolling along, the company has also just announced a successful $30M Series B funding round. Leading the round is the House of Lithium. These funds will help push Damon’s production and manufacturing efforts further. The additional money will help Damon continue building its Vancouver, Canada factory. The new factory will begin motorcycle manufacturing sometime in 2022. Andy DeFrancesco, the Chairman, and CEO of Lithium thinks that Damon’s business plan will be successful: “Damon Motors has unveiled a comprehensive vision for e-powersports that encompasses both the needs of riders as well as the needs of the planet. Their forward-thinking innovation has resulted in a disruptive, exciting path forward that is altering the landscape of motorcycling.” Jay Giraud also chimed in about the funding round: “The ride has been nonstop since we first unveiled the HyperSport at CES. As 2022 approaches, it’s full speed ahead with the backing of House of Lithium and the investment community, as well as the riding community. We’re headed back to where it all started at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and will be introducing our latest creation that will solidify Damon’s position as the leader in the future of motorcycling.” Modularity Damon says that it can unveil a new model at CES because of its Hyperdrive™ technology: “HyperDrive is the world’s first monocoque-constructed, 100% electric, multi-variant powertrain and forms the core of all Damon motorcycles. It serves as the nucleus that a wide range of models and submodels can quickly be built upon.” Driving interest Boosting Damon’s potential sales are the effects of COVID-19, and environmental concerns are helping to increase interest in their products: Motorcycles have seen a resurgence in the wake of COVID-19 as people adopt personal modes of transportation in an effort to maintain social distancing. Concurrently, the increased attention toward global warming and the effects of climate change have resulted in riders demanding cleaner alternatives that are not reliant on harmful fossil fuels. Damon has answered the call with its line of electric motorcycles that offers a cleaner, quieter and safer path forward for riders and the environment. With Damon’s continued growth, it is also looking for people to fill 150 positions within the company. They are looking for all disciplines, including engineers with automotive, battery, power train, and embedded software expertise. If you want to become a Damon team member, you can check out the opportunities at Damon.com. Or you can stop by Damon’s booth at CES. Sales Damon says it already has more than $45M in outstanding orders for its Hypersport motorcycle lineup. However, the company has yet to sell its first motorcycle. But we’re going to have to wait a while for the Hypersport and Hyperfighter Colossus to hit the sales floor. Damon’s motorcycles have some new ideas and tech. So it will be interesting to see how the final products turn out. Unfortunately, as it stands now, we’ll have to wait until sometime in 2022 to see the results.
