advrider
If you want to turn your Husqvarna 701 Enduro or KTM 690 Enduro into a rally bike, or just better-equip it for highway miles, check out this option from adventure-bike.be. It appears to offer a very simple tower that a competent wrencher should be able to install with minimal problems. The rally kit is basic; essentially, it’s just a replacement for the front headlight assembly. The KTM and Husky big-bore enduro models come with a typical dirt bike-style headlight, which doesn’t cut it for extended high-speed street riding, and rally riders certainly need to upgrade if they want a mounting tower for instruments. This kit should do the trick. The assembly includes LED headlights. There’s an offroad-only version and an ECE-approved version for riders who want to take their machine to the streets. Both versions have dual 25W low beams and 25W high beams, with 3000-lumen output from each light. The manufacturer says these lights are plug-and-play, requiring no awkward splicing into the wiring harness. The two-piece flyscreen is made of Lexan, for flexible strength. It’s supposed to be easily removable, for maintenance, and it offers a minimalistic upgrade to the bike’s wind protection. Behind the windscreen, there’s 12 mm tubing that serves as a mounting point for navigation equipment such as a GPS, roadbook, tripmeter, etc. There’s a dash panel with holes pre-drilled for 12V USB outlets, as well as the bike’s original dummy lights, turn signals, and other dash features. The kit is made to fit all years of KTM 690 Enduro production, and all years of Husqvarna 701 production; when you purchase, the company will contact you to determine which model your bike is, in order to correctly pre-drill the holes for your machine. The kit comes with a rugged black powdercoating. Initial pricing is 699 Euros, but we’d expect that to rise. Full details at the adventure-bike.be website are here. If this kit fit with the Husqvarna 701 Enduro LR bodywork, it would be an interesting way to create a stripped-down, dirt-ready ADV machine. If you can’t find a leftover LR model at a dealer, you could also add an IMS auxiliary tank system for extended fuel range.
