advrider
Attention Aussie Husky riders: the HuskyTrek 2022 is happening. It’s a five-day adventure rally that looks like a total hoot. If you’re going to be on the Australian continent in August of this year, and you have (or have access to) a registered Husqvarna Norden 901 or a 701 Enduro there, you’re going to want to look into this. [embedded content] Is it only for Huskies? So, first, yes, this is a brand-specific and model-specific event – only Norden 901 and 701 Enduro (or Enduro LR) motorcycles are welcome. The rider also needs to show proof of insurance and have a full open unrestricted motorcycle license, and knobbies fitted to the bike. The organizers do not specify country of residence, so if you are not an Australian resident, you’ll need to figure out getting into the country and renting or borrowing an appropriate Husky to attend. That won’t be cheap, but the fun might be worth it. When is it? The 2022 event runs from August 14th until the 19th. It starts and ends in the Bunya Mountains, in South East Queensland. The five days of planned routes include a “main route [which] will be achievable for first-time adventurers with a little bit of off-road experience. With the optional hard routes keeping things spicy for riders that like to continually challenge themselves.” There will be lead riders and sweep riders, the course is marked, and organizers are also providing GPS routes. It’s a choose-your-own-adventure. What else is included? There’s a sag wagon to carry one bag per person that’ll meet you at each night’s destination. They’re also providing mechanics and a trailer, just in case. They’ve recruited riding medics to roll through the course with everybody. There will also be medics following in a 4WD vehicle. The event registration price includes your dinners. There’s even a pro photographer and videographer to capture you at your most heroic. The entire loop covers approximately 1500 km (932 miles) of peak Australian adventure. What’s it cost? All this, of course, comes with a price: $1795 AUD ($2452 USD), which includes all of the above. It does not, however, cover accommodations. Organizers apparently provide options for accommodations on each of the nights, but do not mention whether camping is allowed. If you can fit everything into one bag, can you camp along the route instead of hotelling it? Contact the organizers at husqvarna.com or sign up and find out!
