advrider
The Royal Enfield Scram 411 is now launched on the Indian market, offering a more style-focused alternative to the Himalayan adventure bike. Looking at the bike from a distance, you can see that it’s obviously the same basic design as the Himalayan, with the same air/oil-cooled single-cylinder engine, making 24ish horsepower at 6,500 rpm and about 23 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm. The frame is the same Harris Performance design as the Himalayan as well. However, if you look closely, you can see there’s a 19-inch front wheel, instead of the Himalayan’s 21-inch front wheel. That means the Scram 411 should still handle a bit of rough-road action, maybe even gravel or some dirt, but it’s not made for log-hopping. Also note that the Scram has a low-mount front fender; riding this thing through really gnarly terrain could see rocks, mud or other junk stuck under there. The Scram 411 is obviously an attempt by Royal Enfield to infiltrate the youth-oriented scrambler scene. Photo: Royal Enfield It’s the same ~4-gallon tank as the Himalayan, by the looks of it. Thanks to a 17-inch rear wheel, slightly less suspension travel up front and a revised saddle, the Scram 411 has a seat height of 31.3 inches, which should keep the bike accessible to shorter riders. It’s an easy repackaging deal for Royal Enfield, especially when you consider many parts from the Himalayan’s accessories package should directly swap over. Many choice for groovy colors! Photo: Royal Enfield Royal Enfield hasn’t signaled pricing for this machine yet, but we’d expect it to be roughly in the same ballpark as the Himalayan, whatever market you’re in. Funky paint options will drive the price up, and note that once again, Royal Enfield has plenty of such available for this machine. Given the lag that North American customers see after Royal Enfield launches bikes in India, we’d expect the machine to be on American and Canadian dealership floors sometime in 2023. For now, you’ll have to be content looking at photos from Royal Enfield’s Indian website. Vezi sursa
