advrider
With the apparent raging success of Honda’s ADV150, ADV350 and 750cc X-ADV scooters, it would appear the go-more-places adventure scooter thing is now a definite trend, and long-time scooter maker Peugeot may debut a 400cc-class machine that can get dirty, according to a La Moto Argentina. While there are no indications the Peugeot ADV super scoot is imminent, the interesting renders seen here may not be entirely new, as La Moto admits they were “archived by Peugeot” at some point, but says that the company seems intent on producing the machine. So they’ve been thinking about it, at least. Image: Peugeot Motorcycle Hard parts deduced from the renders include the said 400cc-class engine (likely the same plant from the Metropolis 400i three-wheeler, very similar to the Piaggio MP3), large-ish wire spoke wheels, USD forks, dual front disc brakes, a large windscreen, and a generally aggressive stance—for a scooter. Red flags are waving in terms of that exhaust header that looks ready to grab the nearest rock and flee the bike ASAP. The motor is also part of the rear suspension – a common scooter powertrain configuration – putting a lot of sprung weight on the rear springs, which may dampen the rear end’s action a bit, as well as possibly exposing the motor to unwanted bumps and grinds. Image: Peugeot Motorcycle It’s likely most ADV scooter owners just want the extra toughness and suspension (and brakes and power) of such machines for navigating crumbling urban infrastructure rather than launching epic RTW journeys, but hey, never say never. While the Peugeot automobile business is under the Stellantis umbrella, which now includes Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Citroën, Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati, Mopar, Opel, Ram and Vauxhall – and a few others – the Peugeot motorcycle brand is operated by India-based Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. After a bit of reorganization (and COVID complications), the company is now properly called Peugeot Motorcycles and while there are no bikes listed on the website yet, here’s hoping something along the lines of the renders comes to pass—after they rethink that enhaust plumbing. We’ll keep you updated. Vezi sursa
