advrider
GasGas continues to build its business forward, but for 2023, it doesn’t seem like the enduro line is going to change much. [embedded content] The GasGas enduro range has four bikes for 2022, the EC250, EC300, EC250F, and EC350F. They are all fuel-injected, even the EC250 and EC300 two-strokes. See the entire lineup at the GasGas website here. The GasGas press release does not indicate many changes for 2022; mostly, it sounds as if the differences amount to Bold New Graphics. Basically, the bikes are very similar to pre-existing models that originally debuted under the KTM line, and have now spread to Husqvarna (remember, all these brands are under the same corporate umbrella now). But while the engines are essentially the same, the chassis is different, with GasGas using a linkage-type suspension instead of a directly-attached shock with progressive damping. They run WP XPLOR forks, Braktec brakes, and have other components that differ as well. In other words—these aren’t just a KTM painted red, they’re a different bike, despite their many similarities. The bikes differ in their pricing as well; GasGas seems to be headed for a future as a lower-priced alternative to KTM. This price difference may be less noticeable under current market conditions, as some dealers may be marking up their bikes with extra pricing to compensate for other industry pressures. However, KTM has announced plans to create street-legal GasGas models, so it definitely has plans to develop the brand forward. Maybe we’ll see KTM’s deal with CFMoto come into play here? Stay tuned!
