advrider
Chinese motorcycle manufacturer CFMOTO has released images of their new 450SR model, the production version of the SR-C21 concept that was shown last October. While the concept lacked specific engine and chassis details, the reveal of the 450SR included most specifications. CFMOTO 450SR Front End. Photo: CFMoto The powerplant consists of a 450cc parallel twin making a claimed 37kW (just under 50 horsepower), all the better to compete with bikes in the competitive 400cc class. A 270-degree crankshaft gives the motor a V-twin feel, unlike CFMOTO’s previous parallel twins. AMCN reports that the engine is “all-new”, but could be related to KTM’s planned 490 twin. KTM has been a partner with CFMOTO since 2018, and they have been co-operating since a few years before that. CFMOTO SR-C21 Concept. Photo: CFMoto While the 450SR lacks the top-shelf suspension components and single-sided swingarm of the SR-C21, it still uses Brembo for the braking system, however, it is a lower-spec caliper clamping a single disc, instead of the concept’s dual discs. The 450SR bodywork, on the other hand, closely mimics that of the SR-C21 concept, down to the winglets that are claimed to be functional, providing 2kg (4.4 lbs) of downforce at 120km/h (72.5 mph). The styling was done by CFMOTO’s European design department, and included wind tunnel testing. Only the headlights differ significantly from the concept, with the zig-zag LED strips now complemented by more conventional lights just below. Claimed weight is168kg (370 lbs.) wet. CFMOTO is currently taking orders for the 450SR in China for a discounted price of 31,980 Yuan ($4,919.09 USD), with deliveries expected to begin in July.
