advrider
If you have been following my scribblings at all you will know that I am a great fan of Wunderlich, the 35-year-old German company whose motto has been “Complete your BMW’ as long as I can remember. But that won’t cover their product range anymore. As an overture to a major expansion of its business, Wunderlich introduced the new brand “Wunderlich Adventure” at its recent ride-in promotion which saw more than 4000 motorcyclists visit its factory. Wunderlich announced that it will develop and offer high-quality components for adventure bikes of “well-known premium motorcycle brands” in the future. The surprise that came with that was the presentation of two new concept bikes “Road Trip” and “Offroad” based on the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 and Special. You have seen these accessories before — but on BMWs. Photo: Wunderlich Wunderlich management wants to leave no doubt that they are serious about this strategic step: along with the presentation came an extensive Parts & Accessories program for the Pan America consisting of more than 50 items, and the choice will continue to grow steadily. The “Wunderlich – Complete your BMW” brand will continue to be dedicated exclusively to BMW bikes and scooters. Where parts and accessories are concerned, there is probably no wider range of sizes than between the giant Wunderlich and the artisan Andy Strapz. I am also a fan of the latter, who has just announced the release of Saddle Bag Supports for the 2022 KLR 650. Andy’s new frames are hidden by his Avduro bags. Any chance to promote his products! Photo: Andy Strapz The development of the range of Andy Strapz’ soft pannier support frames is highly dependent on the gods of good fortune, says Andy. Once a willing owner of a new bike allows his team to get up close and personal with their pride and joy, new frame sets can be birthed quite quickly. Andy, you might recall, was a midwife but he assures us that this process is painless even without an epidural. And here is what the minimalist frames look like. Photo: Andy Strapz Weighing in at only two kilos, the Australian made, satin black, powder-coated, mild steel frames are designed to carry the weight of throw-over bags across the seat, preventing contact with the wheel or muffler. A set of frames complete with all hardware costs A$395 plus post, and I have no doubt that Andy’s US distributor, who is an Inmate, will advise us when he can start taking orders from them for North America.
