Klim Releases New Raptor GTX Overshell Jacket and Pant

Idaho-based Klim (pronounced “climb”) started life producing winter sports apparel, before venturing into motorcycle off-road gear in the 2000s. Their transition to adventure riding apparel began when they noticed riders using their snowmobiling and dirt-riding gear over traditional armour, travelling further, faster, and in more adverse weather because the Klim gear allowed them to. The true test came when Jonah Street and Casey McCoy took modified Klim Valdez snowmobile jackets to multiple Dakar Rally participations, a major breakthrough for the company in their advancement of adventure motorcycle gear. Fast forward 15 years, and Klim releases their new Raptor GTX jacket and pants, a return to their roots with an overshell designed for aggressive adventure riding.

Both the overshell jacket and pant use Gore-Tex 3-layer Performance Shell technology, which Gore-Tex claims is GUARANTEED TO KEEP YOU DRY™ in torrential rain and harsh snow conditions. Superfabric is used for abrasion resistance on the shoulders and elbows, from a company that started life with the goal of creating gloves that would stop a medical needle or surgical knife. Reinforced Cordura is used in other high-wear areas, while 3M Scotchlite is utilized to keep the rider visible in low-light conditions.

The jacket uses a YKK Vislon Aquaguard front zipper with storm flap for maximum wind and water protection, and features two bicep vents, two chest vents, and two vertical back exhaust vents. Two zippered hand pockets and two internal chest pockets provide plenty of storage.

The Raptor GTX pant uses 840D nylon fabric on the inner knees, boot panels and seat for durability, a waterproof fly gusset, and YKK zippers. Ventilation comes from two thigh intake vents and two thigh exhaust vents, and storage is provided by two thigh pockets. A magnetic, low-profile belt buckle promises to be glove friendly, and is supported by an anchored internal waist belt.

Both the jacket and pant are sized for off-road gear, with a streamlined no-liner interior for mobility, and a comfort waistband and collar .
