advrider
What’s the difference between a KTM motorcycle and a Husqvarna motorcycle, besides the paint? These days, not much—the major difference is the suspension, with KTM sticking to its Progressive Damping System and Husqvarna using a linkage-type monoshock. Now, WP (itself a subsidiary of the Pierer conglomerate that owns KTM, Husky and GasGas) has announced a line of suspension upgrades for the 2023 Husqvarna motocross models. Specifically, we get the new XACT Pro 8950 shock and XACT Pro 7548 fork. WP says the new fork uses its proprietary cone valve technology, providing “sensationally direct feedback despite a constant damping performance.” This seems to be the message WP really wants to hammer home: The new design offers superior damping performance. You also get the company’s closed cartridge design, which is supposed to make the suspension more comfortable while preserving handling. WP says the forks are externally adjustable, which makes it easy to dial your setup in. As for the XACT Pro 8950 shock, WP says it also gives you better feedback and damping performance, and is fully adjustable. It uses WP’s Linked Damping technology, as well as the Supertrax adjustment technology that allows you to separately tweak high-speed and low-speed rebound damping, helping you ride faster without beating yourself to bits, and improving rear wheel traction. High-end materials are also supposed to offer better long-term durability, just like the fork. The suspension is available for the 2023 TC125, TC250, FC250, FC350, FC450 along with the 2022 FC250 Rockstar Edition FC450 Rockstar Edition. These upgrades aren’t cheap; in Europe, pricing starts at €2,681.15 for the fork, €1,779.55 for the shock. What’s it going to cost in North America?
