advrider
Honda continues to plug away at its reboot of the Hornet naked bike series, and that means another teaser. This time, we get a look at the bike’s design process, supposedly: [embedded content] Somehow, it just doesn’t seem likely that the bike’s design actually takes place in the Bat-Cave, or Jack Bauer’s CTU headquarters, or Dr. Evil’s moon base, or whatever this installation in this video clip is. However, if you’re reading between the lines, it does tell us the bike is designed in Europe, by Europeans, for Europeans on European roads. That’s probably a good thing, because that practical focus was a big part of the original Honda 599/Hornet series success (as well as the Honda 919, the Hornet’s big brother). These bikes didn’t suffer from Praying Mantis looks (at least not in their early years). They were reliable, attractive machines at a good price, and buyers loved them. A lot of aftermarket support helped, too. Now, we’re about to see a new Honda Hornet. Honda introduced the machine at EICMA with the teasiest of teasers—some renderings that didn’t really show us anything at all. Since then, we’ve learned Honda is almost certainly building a new parallel twin 750-class engine to power this bike, and chances are we’ll see several other machines with this same powerplant, since that’s what all the OEMs do these days. In other words: Today, we see the Honda Hornet, but tomorrow (rhetorically speaking) we’ll see a 750 cruiser, a 750 sport bike and a 750 adventure bike. Expect full details on the new machine at this year’s EICMA show. Vezi sursa
