Perhaps someone should; I for one continue to be impressed with both their quality and value for money. They get me to test stuff in Australia’s unforgiving environment too. The Aprilia Tuareg 660 had barely been released when German accessory house SW-MOTECH came out with a complete set of equipment for the bike. The extensive accessories package, partly sourced from the company’s general range but adapted for the Tuareg offers owners the opportunity to equip the bike for all sorts of uses. Both the company’s SLC carriers and the removable PRO side carriers attach to original mounting points. This makes possible a wide range of luggage variations which can be customized to individual needs. The proven adventure setup with the robust TRAX aluminum cases in silver or black offer plenty of storage space as well as protection against dust and moisture. Anyone who prefers soft luggage will be able to fit SW-MOTECH’s waterproof SysBag WP bags in different sizes, available at the end of the summer to fit both carriers. The Adventure rack makes the most of potential luggage space on the back of the Aprilia. Fit an ADVENTURE-RACK for more options and add even more storage space with the installation of the TRAX or Urban ABS top case. Alternatively, you can use the PRO Rackpack rear bag with 42 liters of storage space. The company’s PRO tank ring will not be available for the Aprilia Tuareg, but the waterproof PRO Cross WP and PRO Enduro WP tank bags can be fitted with straps. A solid bash plate is an absolute necessity for any off- or rough-road bike. SW-MOTECH’s customised tubular steel crash bar can absorb a lot of energy in the event of a drop, and while the standard engine guard could quickly reach its limits in rocky terrain, the robust SW-MOTECH version made of solid aluminum sheet provides reliable protection. Kobra hand guards and a header pipe guard are also available for the Aprilia Tuareg. Let’s not forget the rider, especially on longer tours with many daily miles. Ergonomics are not only vital but can make a lot of difference if they are fine-tuned. The smallest changes in seat, peg and handlebar position can have a major impact on the day’s riding experience. Last but not least, don’t forget to look after your own body parts! The customized aluminum SW-MOTECH handlebar risers increase the height of the bar by 20 or 32mm, while at the same time moving the handlebars back by 30 or 25mm. The footrest kits help the rider find the optimal seating position while providing grip and high stability. The EVO footrest allows 36 variations in all directions and the profile rubber can be easily removed for longer off-road rides. Is that all something to sing about? Well, maybe.
